Life has been crazy lately. We’ve been traveling, followed by the Haven Conference, and now we’re in the midst of “back to school” mania. Today is my oldest son’s first day of Kindergarten and I can hardly believe it! He was so excited to start school. I, on the other hand, cried like a baby after dropping him off this morning. Anyway, I feel like so much has been going on lately that I haven’t had a chance to update you on a lot of things. Today I want to share a fun little flea market furniture find for our office that we scored while visiting my family in Indiana last month.
I’ve mentioned before that my husband, Chris, is really into mid-century modern design, so he was really excited when we found this chair for $17.00 at a flea market. It is a vintage mid-century piece in great condition with the original upholstery. I will probably be re-covering the fuzzy blue retro fabric eventually. For now it fits in nicely in my husband’s office and the walnut wood matches his desk perfectly.
I’m so glad we found this chair, because we found one almost identical to it for the boys’ bedroom makeover and Chris kept threatening to steal it for his office because he loved it so much. He would stare longingly at it, hoping and wishing for one of his very own. Ha, ok, maybe that’s a little dramatic, but he seriously loved the chair.
Now, I just need to find the perfect fabric for the new chair. Add that to my never ending project list!

Just wondering what flea market you went to? I live in Indiana and am always looking for new places to check out π

Hi Emily! I went to the Riley Flea Market inside the old Riley school building in Muncie, IN! (My hometown.) It’s pretty small but there are lots of rooms full of stuff!

Great score! I grew up with those chairs…My Mother is from Belgium and always liked the clean lines of Scandinavian furniture so our house was filled with it, my Mom still has the dining room table, chairs and buffet!

That’s so cool Nadine! Love that your mom still has that furniture. My grandparents still have a lot of mid-century stuff in their house too and I really like it!

That chair is a great find!! Love the lines of it. I found two chairs at ReStore for five bucks each. They’re kind of similar: http://ourhumbleabodeblog.com/2013/05/20/mcm-modernized/ Neat, cheap chair lovers unite!!
