I’ve been so busy lately I can hardly see straight! But busy is good. On the other hand, I have so many things on my to-do list that I tend to get overwhelmed and lose focus, and then very little actually gets accomplished. I did manage to get a few things done over the past couple weeks, and threw in a little fun too. Here’s a look at last week in-review:
A few friends and I have recently set up a monthly craft night. This is an opportunity for us to get together at each other’s houses and hang out, eat snacks in our pjs and talk girl talk while also attempting to be creative. We usually make a little Pinterest-inspired craft. This week we made really cute Mod Podge Coasters, inspired by The Cottage Home. We followed her awesome tutorial, which can be found here. The only thing we changed up was that we used a top-coat sealer purchased at an auto supply store because it is not only water-resistant but heat resistant too, so you can sit a cup of coffee on the coaster without worrying about it getting ruined. We also used cork for the bottoms, but felt works fine too. These would make great gifts, and there are so many possibilities! I know several people who have used photos instead of scrapbook paper to add a personal touch.

Thrifting
I had the opportunity to go thrifting on Saturday, so I ventured into my favorite place. No really, that’s the name of it, “My Favorite Place.” It’s appropriately named considering it really is my favorite place to treasure hunt, and it happens to be the same spot where I found this headboard a couple months ago. I reluctantly walked away empty-handed this time, but I did spot several cool things. If you follow me on Facebook, you’ve already gotten a preview of this trip, but let me just refresh your memory.
This was by far the most, ahem… “unique” item I spotted. I could *not* stop laughing! A toilet seat mirror. I mean, come on! Seriously? |
I thought this globe was really cool and old-world (pardon the pun) looking. It was marked down to $50, which I couldn’t justify spending on a globe. But I still loved it. |
Heavy Lifting
I finally hoisted my heavy refinished headboard over my shoulder and carried it from the garage, up 1 1/2 flights of stairs to the guest room. This doesn’t sound like a very big task, but that thing is heavier than it looks! It’s solid wood, and I am not a very large person, so it was a little bit of a chore. I’ll have pictures soon of the headboard in it’s permanent home, attached to the guest bed as intended.
Lots of work happening this week! Updates coming soon.
What do you think of the thrift store items I spotted? What projects have you finished lately? Let me know!
