The dining room makeover has begun, with phase one (painted walls) complete! Since this makeover is not going to happen overnight, I thought I would just show it to you as we get things accomplished. As I’ve mentioned before, although it was hard to tell in photos, this room desperately needed to be painted. There were lots of holes and scuffs, etc., that needed to be patched, and it just needed to be freshened up. I’m going to share a few “After” photos, and then I’ll throw in a “Before” pic at the end.
First, I just want to say a huge thank you to Benjamin Moore who provided the paint for this project. I used their Aura paint in a Matte finish, and the color is Revere Pewter. I love it! It’s the perfect shade of soft gray. And I can’t say enough good things about it in general. It is self-priming, so it only took one coat, plus I didn’t notice any stinky paint fumes at all. Self-priming is a must for me nowadays. Because of this, I was able to paint this room during naptime, and I had time to spare! I think I’m going to carry this color through to the living room/office and paint the walls in there too.
I love how this bronze mirror casts a pretty glow on the walls toward evening and at night. The paint color changes hue with different lighting and at different times of the day, and it really is a great neutral without being boring. Oh, and for more info on my refinished buffet table (a flea market find), check out that post here.
We still need curtains, wall art and a rug to really finish the room off, but the walls are a good start!
And just to refresh your memory, here it was before:
It was kind of a yellowy-tan color. It looks better in the picture than it did in person, trust me.
Stay tuned for more updates!
Ok, opinions: Should I stick with this color (Revere Pewter) for our living room/office? Please leave a comment and let me know what you think!
