Since I’ve been nesting like crazy, I decided that our entryway desperately needed a makeover. It’s like I have this uncontrollable urge to mark as many things as possible off my to do list before this baby comes and I become a sleep-deprived zombie. 🙂 In the midst of working on the nursery and staining the deck, I decided an impromptu entryway makeover was something I should definitely take on at 8+ months pregnant. (Yes I realize this is crazy. No I can’t help it. Nesting has taken over my life!)
Here’s what the entryway looked like when we moved in:
And soon after we moved in I scraped things together and came up with this:
Then, a couple weeks ago I started the makeover which included:
- Painting the walls
- Adding a new mirror (which was formerly in the living room.) I love the mirror so much I actually have two! The other one is in the nursery.
- Building a bench (yep, at 8 months pregnant. Chris did the staining. Build plans & tutorial here!)
- Building a coat rack (More info coming soon!)
- Adding some smaller mirrors to the wall.
First, I painted the walls with Benjamin Moore’s Revere Pewter. (Same as the nursery — we had some paint left over and I love the color.) Here it is as a blank slate after painting.
And here is the entryway now:
The mirror is the Sole Mirror from Home Decorators Collection, and the console table was a flea market find that I made over. I dried the hydrangea which came from our yard.
Here is a tutorial for how to build the bench, and here is a tutorial for the wall mounted coat rack.
The small Threshold Starburst Mirrors are from Target. The basket is from HomeGoods.
I definitely saved a ton of money by building things myself and using what we already had on hand for this project. I have a fun little project coming up in the next few weeks which inspired this entire makeover, and I’ll tell you about that very soon too!
