I decided to try my hand at sewing once again, and gave our couch a little update with these Envelope Pillow Covers that I made. I think they turned out ok for my first try – just don’t look too closely at the seams! Ha. I can’t sew a straight line to save my life, but I’m working on it.
As for the fabric, I had been searching for months for something that would coordinate with the curtains but not be too matchy-matchy. I had the hardest time finding anything in a similar color. Finally, I found the turquoise chevron. I know some people are getting over the whole chevron craze, but I still like it and it happened to work for this room.
I plan on adding a few other styles of pillows around the room too, which I will also attempt to make myself. I plan on painting this room eventually too. The pinky beige isn’t my fave.
Here’s another angle of the room. You can see the back of some kitchen cabinets in the background because our house is a split level. (Still haven’t figured out a solution for that space yet.) And the sliding door leads out to the screened porch out back. The pillow on the chair came from Target a few years ago and is reversible (white on one side, turquoise on the other). You might also recognize this dresser hanging out behind the chair. It was one of my first furniture projects and still one of my favorites.
My next major project on the agenda is refinishing some of our bedroom furniture. If you follow me on Facebook, you saw that I got started on the dresser but I haven’t made much progress yet. I hope to finish soon though!
Do you have a mile-long project list too? Have you made any cute pillows lately?
