I know that I try my best to show pretty pictures on this blog, and to share inspiration and ideas. The fact is, in reality, my house is a mess 99.9% of the time. You all know that I have three little boys and a dog, and therefore keeping a clean home just isn’t in the cards most of the time. However, when I do attempt to clean, it doesn’t matter how much of an effort I make, I don’t feel like the house is truly clean unless it smells clean.
In fact, sometimes I can even trick myself into believing it’s clean when it’s not just by making it smell nice. (Shhh… that’s our little secret.) One of my go-to items that I always have in the house are plug-in air fresheners. I also love candles and wax melts. The great thing is, all of these can be found in the air care aisle near the grocery section of Wal-Mart. I was there recently and I was pleasantly surprised by the large selection. It’s nice to be able to pick up groceries and grab a few new scents at the same time, without having to venture all over the store. I was also sent a package full of scented goodies, and I had the opportunity to try some new scents.
My usual scent of choice is Air Wick “Fresh Waters.” I absolutely always have that one on-hand and our guests often ask me about it. I just love the way it smells. This time I tried the Turquoise Oasis, which is a fresh, tropical scent. The thing I love about the Air Wick plug-ins in particular is that the scent is powerful. You can smell it from across a room, you don’t have to be sitting right next to it.
I’ve always loved scented candles too. The Glade Sunshine Showers is a pretty teal color and comes in a classic glass candle holder. The Tiki Colada smells tropical and yummy and makes me want to head to the beach.
It’s amazing what a huge effect scent has on your perception of a room, or the feelings certain scents can evoke. Ultimately, I would hate to work hard cleaning our house only to have it still smell like our dog or our baby’s diapers. Ha! Seriously though, yummy, fresh scents are a must for me.
What about you? Do you have a favorite scent, or a “go to” air freshener that you use in your home? I would love to hear about it in the comments!
