Have you ever thought about renovating your kitchen? Maybe it’s on your wish list for the future, or maybe you are planning a renovation soon. Personally, I know that we would love to gut our kitchen someday and get new cabinets and flooring. (Someday…) Today I have the perfect resource to share with you to help educate you and prepare you for every aspect of kitchen renovation. It’s an e-book called “Renovate Your Kitchen the Smart Way,” — stay tuned for a giveaway at the end of this post!
Renovate Your Kitchen the Smart Way tells you everything you need to know about renovating a kitchen, whether you plan on hiring a contractor or doing the work yourself. It was written by John Gerard, who has more than 10 years of home improvement experience, with the hopes that it will help you make the right decisions and save money. We all love to save money, right? Kitchen renovations can be very expensive, so if there are ways to pinch pennies, we all want to know how to do that, right?
This e-book covers all aspect of kitchen renovating, including planning (where to begin); scope (determining how much work your kitchen needs); everything you need to know about materials; budget; all sorts of info about hiring a general contractor; and how to save money on labor and materials.
I specifically was interested in learning more about the different materials and educating myself on the pros and cons of different options (especially cabinets), plus general cost information and what is a fair price for certain materials. While our entire kitchen isn’t awful, the cabinets are original to the house and poorly painted (not by us), and I would love to rip them all out someday. The countertop stove is also original and two burners don’t work, along with the downdraft vent. Here’s a quick snapshot of part of our kitchen — I had to act fast during the five minutes it was clean. (Except for the dirty floor, it needed to be mopped, so please ignore!)
I also wanted to know what to expect in general along the way if we opt to undertake a kitchen renovation. This e-book covered everything I wanted to know and more. It was full of helpful information and I got a great feel for what to expect. I love that it’s available as an audio book too, so I could listen to a chapter here and there during the day. I love that every detail of the renovation process is covered, and each chapter was well organized which made it easy to skip around and find the specific information I wanted at any given time.

this would be PERFECT for my sister. They bought a house a couple months ago. She’s been slowly working on the cabinets. (they originally hired out to have them paint the cabinets, they did a horrible job) so my sister’s been fixing them up. and so far she’s doing an amazing job. I know they’d like to have the island redone. but all on a budget!

We have been in our house for over 16 years now and are finally getting to a kitchen remodel in the next few months so this would be perfect! The kitchen had just been redone when we bought the house so it was hard to justify ripping it out even though the honey oak cabinets have been mocking me since we moved in!

I can’t wait to remodel our kitchen…it won’t be for awhile yet, but it would be great to know I’m doing it right 😉

We bought a 90’s builder grade home last year — needless to say, we’ve been working our way through all of the projects. It’s time to start planning the kitchen remodel and my husband is convinced he can build everything from scratch. OOOH WEE, I need all the help and information I can get. 🙂

I need serious help with deciding what to do with our kitchen, as do my parents. With this I think it would help a lot!
