Thanks for all of your support and please don’t make fun of me if my TV debut turns out to be completely awkward and embarrassing! Ok, you can make fun of me but just do it behind my back so I don’t have to know. 😉
I’ve been planning for a hundred years now to makeover our master bedroom, but it just hasn’t ranked very high on the priority list – until now. The boys’ room makeover inspired me to go with navy blue, but beyond that I was stumped. It’s finally starting to come together in my mind, and I’m finally ready to get started. It won’t be a whirlwind makeover like the boys’ room was, it’ll be more like a marathon than a sprint. But I’m getting started, and here is my inspiration for the room.
This amazingly fabulous rug!
Thank you to Rugs USA for providing this rug for our master bedroom makeover. It is the 5’x8′ Homespun Hawa Moroccan Trellis rug in Navy, and it is even more gorgeous in person. I’m in love. This rug will go in our sitting area. Well, you can’t tell that it’s a sitting area as of right now, but it will be a sitting area soon. You will see more of this fabulous rug soon when I reveal the room makeover, but for now just enjoy this peek and take a look at how dreamy it is. It’s soft but not too “fluffy,” and it’s the perfect shade of navy blue. I love how there is a hint of gray bordering the pattern, sandwiched between the navy and white. If you are looking for a statement piece for a room with a navy color scheme, here she is.
And in case you were wondering if our room really needs a makeover, let me assure you, it does. Here is proof in the form of an embarrassingly cluttered-looking photo. I didn’t even bother to move the Febreze bottle (or anything else) because I am just going to keep it 100% real with you – this is what it looks like at this moment:
When we made over the boys’ room, this part of our room became a “catch-all” for stuff like a giant rocking chair, which we’ll be moving to the guest room very soon. The plan for this side of the bedroom is for it to be part sitting area and part work area. This is where I do my sewing and work on some of my craft projects, and hubby wants to work in this area sometimes too since it’s much quieter than our home office downstairs.
As for the other side of the room, here’s an old pic:
I’ll be refinishing all of the furniture, coming up with some window and bedding solutions as well as art and accessories – all on a budget, of course!
Our new rug has definitely inspired me to get started, and it will also be the focal point of the room. It’s the first thing you see as you walk up the stairs, and it makes me smile every time.
Stay tuned as I slowly turn this room from drab and boring to functional and somewhat attractive, or so I hope.
