For some reason, I have about a dozen dollar store vases hoarded away, and I love finding brand new ways to dress them up and customize them. I decided to create Stenciled Glitter Vases using some cute stencils from my friend Amy’s new Mod Podge Rocks stencil line available at Michaels. You may know Amy from her blog Mod Podge Rocks. She’s a fellow Atlanta blogger, and when I found out that she had a stencil line coming out, I couldn’t wait to try them out! (P.S. Here is info about her brand.)
Here are the supplies you will need for this craft:
- Plain glass vase
- Mod Podge Rocks Stencil (I used the Wood Grain and Tangiers patterns)
- Mod Podge
- Foam spouncer
- Glitter
- Spray-on Sealer (optional)
First, position your stencil onto the vase. These are adhesive stencils which I love, so they stick to your project surface. They are reusable and they come in lots of cute designs, and they allow you to create glitter designs using Mod Podge.
Use your foam spouncer to apply Mod Podge on top of your stencil. You will use a vertical “pouncing” motion to apply it rather than painting it on. This prevents it from bleeding under the stencil.
Peel off your stencil and sprinkle on the glitter, then shake off the excess. Repeat this process all the way around your vase.
Allow your vase to dry, then spray on sealer. (Optional.)
Be sure to save your excess glitter and pour it back into your container. (You’d be surprised how much you can salvage.)
Super easy!

Disclosure: I received these stencils for free. All opinions are my own.
