If you live in the South and have never been to the Country Living Fair at Stone Mountain, GA, all I have to say is you must go! I was lucky enough to attend the event (put on by Country Living Magazine) this past weekend, along with several of my fellow bloggers. (I’m in the photo above on the right-hand side, holding the banner.) Our Atlanta Bloggers Group had a meetup there and we were happy to also meet up with some out-of-towners, including Beth from Unskinny Boppy and Ben Ashby, Editor-in-Chief of FOLK Magazine. Most of us are members of the Hometalk community, so it was a lot of fun meeting some new bloggers face to face as well as hanging out with some I’ve met before. I brought my real-life friend Erica, whom I’ve dragged into our Atlanta bloggers group since she has a blog of her own and is super crafty.
There were several great presentations on the Main Stage, and tons of amazing vendors with booths scattered throughout the woods. There was so much crafty inspiration everywhere you looked. There were gorgeous textiles and antiques and trinkets and doo-dads, and a huge amount of “junk” to sift through. (And by “junk,” of course I mean treasures. It’s a compliment.)
I really wanted to bring that gorgeous antique typewriter home with me, but I fought the urge. It had me at hello, but I am trying to tame my hoarding ways and the truth is I really have nowhere to put it right now. So I kissed it goodbye and went on my merry way. (Ok, I didn’t kiss it. That would just be weird… but I thought about it. Thinking about kissing a typewriter isn’t weird at all, right?)
I walked away without this mustache frame too. Hilarious! |
In the afternoon, the folks at Rust-Oleum were nice enough to invite our blogger’s group to a demo of one of their new products, Tile Transformations. It was a lot of fun and the product seems very easy to use. It sounds like a good solution for covering up ugly backsplash tile (cough, kitchen at our townhome that we rent out and want to sell, cough) or shower tile without having to replace it. Much easier and more budget-friendly.
Here I am with Sheila from Plum Doodles. |
Here’s Erica giving it a try. |
I wish we could have stayed longer, but I had to get back home in the afternoon to take my boys to a Halloween party that evening. I definitely plan on attending again next year!
Did you attend the Country Living Fair? If so, what was your favorite thing about it? Did you want to kiss that typewriter too?
Thank you to Rust-Oleum for providing my tickets to the Country Living Fair.

Jealous!! That looks like so much fun! I am excited to hear about the Rust-oleum tile product! If/when we paint our kitchen cabinets white, the off-while tile backsplash is not going to look right. If this product will make it easy to paint the tile white or another good color, i will be so happy!
