Last week I helped co-lead the Do-It-Herself Workshop at The Home Depot in Austell, GA. I had an amazing time and I was so impressed by the turnout! We had such an awesome, diverse group of ladies come out to the workshop, and I was so happy to see so many women of all ages trying power tools for the first time.
My co-leader was Kristin of The Hunted Interior. We both believe that using power tools is very empowering, and women are just as capable of being as “handy” as any guy. We were happy to see so many women participating.
The project this month was to create a Pinterest-inspired monogram wreath. Each lady had the opportunity to cut out a monogram letter to take home, and power tools were raffled off as prizes too!
There were representatives from RYOBI and Dremel present to talk about specific tools and to assist the ladies with their projects. Everyone could get “hands-on” and try out several different power tools.
The folks at The Home Depot were awesome to work with too, and they made this workshop so much fun.
Jennifer from The Home Depot did awesome leading the women and showing them how to cut out their monogram.
I hope that everyone left the workshop having learned something new and feeling empowered.
Did I mention these workshops are free? They take place once a month, so check with your local Home Depot store if you’d like to attend. You can register here.
I created my own version of a Pinterest-inspired monogram wreath using a cloverleaf patterned radiator grate (purchased at The Home Depot) as a stencil.
You can check out my video tutorial below if you’d like to see how I made it. (Please ignore the messy garage!)
