Hello and welcome to my brand new site! (If you are reading this via email subscription, feel free to hop over to the blog to see the new design). First of all, I want to apologize for the wonky email that was sent out to subscribers as my blog was being switched from Blogger to WordPress. It had old posts and expired giveaways and I’m not sure why that happened but evidently there was some sort of glitch. Anyway, I am very sorry for clogging up your inbox with that! There are still some formatting issues with old posts that I’m working on, etc., but I am very excited to have a new design and to be moved to the new platform.
I haven’t blogged in a while since my site was being moved and redesigned, and we’ve had a lot going on in general. First of all, I’ll start with what’s been going on with our family. We have spent the summer traveling a lot and spending time with family and friends, so the home projects have been put on the back burner. We went to Asheville and the mountains and visited my family in Indiana, and we had a great time on those trips. My boys loved running around with their cousins. Here they are with my nephew – I attempted to take family photos but they were way too full of energy!
We’ve also spent the summer on the baseball field since my oldest son, Aiden (5 years old) has been playing on his first team. We celebrated my youngest son Jake’s 3rd birthday last week and he had a small “Angry Birds” party at our house. I’ve tried to take a step back this summer and really just soak in every moment with my family before both of my boys go to school this fall. Jake will be starting preschool 3 days a week and Aiden will be in Kindergarten! Time flies by way too quickly.
This week I am excited to be attending the Haven Conference again here in Atlanta. (You can read all about last year’s conference here and here.) I will be connecting with tons of other Home & DIY bloggers as well as continuing to learn more about the business side of blogging, attending hands-on DIY classes, and connecting with brands. My friend Erica and I have decided to room together and make it a little girls’ weekend since commuting during rush hour was kind of a pain last year, especially since there are events going on from 7ish in the morning until 11pm this time. I am beyond excited! I can’t wait to tell you all about what I learn, and of course you can follow along on Instagram while I’m there.
I currently have several projects in mind, and I still owe you a post about our master bedroom makeover! It’s finished except for nightstands which we will either find and make over or build ourselves. As for future plans, we are trying to focus our home projects on things we can take with us because we will be moving early next year! We have mixed feelings about this since we really love our home. We are currently renting because we still own our old townhome, and we wanted to get the hang of being landlords before rushing into buying again and taking on two mortgages. We are finally in a place where we feel that we can handle it and we want to buy a place of our own again and settle into our “forever home.” Our lease is up in the spring so we are going to begin the house hunting process in January/February. It’s exciting but scary at the same time. We will most likely buy an older home that needs a little work in order to get into the area we really love. We also love the idea of having more space and being on a large wooded lot which is hard to find with a newer house these days. Plus, you know I love a good DIY project. 🙂 We haven’t ruled out a new home but we will just see what feels right to us when the time comes. You know I will be updating you as we go through that process.
So, that’s what’s new over here! Can’t wait to get back to some projects. As always, thanks for reading! What have you been up to? Any new/exciting projects? Please let me know!

I’ve never been to Asheville but we went to the Banner Elk/Boone area for our honeymoon back in 2011 and we loved it! It’s so pretty there! Good luck on your move!January seems kind of far away but it will be here in no time! We are expecting our first little one and I am due in January, exciting times!

Hope you settle in to the new blog and it feels like home soon! That shot of the boys is just about precious as heck. I did a “awe” on that one :))) Enjoy Haven and we’ll hear all about it when you get back! Have some fun for me! Shannon

Thanks so much Shannon! Sad you won’t be at Haven, but I’m sure there will be lots of recaps afterwards!
