Hello and welcome to Part 2 of my home tour! If you missed it the other day, here is Part 1. Just to recap, my home is in the process of evolving and there are many rooms that are not “finished,” but we’re getting there. I took the opportunity to snap some pics on the rare occasion that the whole house was actually clean. Since this blog is all about sharing my home with you, along with all of my projects, I decided it was finally time to give you a tour! If I wait until I consider it to be “finished” and fully decorated, you’ll never get to see it. Let’s face it, it’s a never-ending process.
We left off last time with my sons’ room. Technically, they share a room. But since my youngest is an awful sleeper, we have temporarily relocated my 4 year-old to the guest room. He doesn’t seem to mind – he’s happy no matter where we put him. As long as he has his Batman pillow and his Spider Man night light, he’s good to go.
Now, I warned you, I didn’t take time to “stage” anything! Below is the boys’ bookshelf. Next time you see it, I promise it will probably still look the same be organized and there will hopefully be cute buckets for storage instead of baskets. For now, I’m just happy the books made it back onto the shelves rather than spread out all over the floor as usual. The boys made the artwork you see in the frames. And see that little star on the top left-hand side of the bookshelf? That’s my 4 year-old son’s T-Ball trophy and he is so proud of it. He was beaming with pride when his coach handed it to him. So of course, it will probably be displayed in his room until the end of time. It’s his very first sports trophy. So precious!
Here is my little guy’s crib. (He’ll be in a “big boy bed” soon though!) As you can see, the next project for this room is adding art to that blank wall. The empty space to the right of the crib is where my older son’s toddler bed usually goes, but as I mentioned, we have temporarily moved him into the guest room.
Next, is the master bedroom (see next 2 photos). Now, this room needs a lot of work. It is divided into two areas, the bedroom area and a sitting area. As you can see, there is nowhere to sit in the “sitting area.” I plan on doing something with that side of the room (“on the cheap,” of course), and also refinishing the furniture in here. And sorry for the sloppily-made bed. I was scrambling to clean up the house while two little boys were scrambling to mess it up again. So it’s the best I could do, considering!
Here’s the other side of the room:
Here is the guest bedroom (below). As you can see, this is also my son’s temporary bedroom. He moves back and forth depending on whether we have guests. This room is basically a blank slate right now. I have several projects in mind for this room, and I am currently working on a headboard for in here.
Now, we’re back downstairs in the kitchen (below). Luckily, it was renovated right before we moved in.
Check out these “blast from the past” posts for info on my no-sew Roman Shade and Valance I made for the kitchen windows. These were actually the first projects I ever did for the blog!
And here, we have the basement play room. I have a lot of ideas for this room, too. But for now, it’s just where we stash all of the toys and let the boys make as much of a mess as their little hearts desire.
You’ve seen the back yard and the pool house, and unfortunately I haven’t made any progress on my craft workshop out there yet. I’ll get to it eventually!
Thanks for taking the time to “tour” my home. I’ve enjoyed sharing it with you, and I hope you’ll continue to join me on this whole blogging/DIY journey as our home continues to evolve. I’m having a lot of fun with it!
