My Favorite Power Tool Projects + RYOBI Power Tools Giveaway!

August 11, 2014 By Erin Spain 16 Comments

My Favorite Power Tool Projects! via DIY on the Cheap

I know that the idea of using power tools can be intimidating to some people — it certainly was to me at first! But now that I’ve learned how to use them, I love them and there’s no turning back. Today I’m sharing a round-up of some of my favorite past power tool projects, including some that are appropriate for all experience levels. I’ll tell you which power tools I used for each project (you can click the title of each project for a link to the post containing a complete supply list and tutorial), plus (bonus) stay tuned at the end of this post for a chance to WIN some of my very favorite RYOBI power tools!

Now, for the projects:

DIY Mini Planter

This is a super easy beginner woodworking project. I can build a planter, now if only I could keep a plant alive!

Power tools used:
RYOBI Compound Sliding Miter Saw
, RYOBI Cordless Nailer, Sander

Framed Chalkboard

This is a great beginner project if you’re just starting to use a miter saw. Just easy, basic 45 degree cuts.

Power tools used:
RYOBI Compound Sliding Miter Saw
, RYOBI Cordless Nailer, Sander

DIY Chevron Planter

This is a good intermediate woodworking project, although a beginner could definitely do it with some patience. The chevron paint treatment is optional!

Power tools used:
RYOBI Compound Sliding Miter Saw
, RYOBI Cordless Nailer, Sander

DIY Chevron Planter

Lego Coat Rack

This was a really fun project, and surprisingly easy!

Power tools used:
RYOBI Sliding Compound Miter Saw
and RYOBI Cordless Nailer

Wood + Nailhead Headboard

Believe it or not, this was my very first power tool project. A jig saw is a great saw to start with since the blade is smaller and less intimidating.

Power tools used: RYOBI Jig Saw and Sander.

Wood and Nailhead Headboards

Outdoor Farmhouse Table & Benches

This is definitely a more advanced woodworking project, but just another example of, “If I can do this, so can you!” If you’ve had some practice with a miter saw and can follow basic build plans, you can totally build this!

Power tools used:
RYOBI Compound Sliding Miter Saw
, RYOBI Cordless Nailer, Drill, Sander.

Scrap Wood & Mason Jar Centerpiece

I love finding ways to use up pieces of scrap wood, and this project was an easy way to do that.

Power tools used:
RYOBI Compound Sliding Miter Saw
and RYOBI Cordless Nailer.

DIY Platform Toddler Bed

This is beyond easy! No saw required — The Home Depot will cut down your plywood when you buy it — you just take it home and assemble!

Power tools used: RYOBI drill and sander.

If you’ve been considering taking the plunge and using power tools for the first time, I want to encourage you to go for it! You can do it! It sounds much harder (and more intimidating) than it really is. With the right tools, you can make anything! Really.

Will you be trying any of these projects? I’d love to hear about it if so!
