Kids’ Art: Abstract Painting

August 27, 2013 By Erin Spain 3 Comments

I’ve been looking for some fun, easy, low-maintenance activities to do with the kids after school, and I’ve made it my goal from now on to do at least one art or craft project with them per week. They absolutely love creating things, and they both seem to be artistic, so I really want to encourage them to explore their creative side. My oldest son especially loves to write and draw, and he spends countless hours each day making art. I thought it would be fun for them to have an impromptu kids’ art day, so I picked up a few supplies at Hobby Lobby and surprised them after school.

Fun after school activity for kids: abstract painting!

I bought some Crayola washable kids paint (washable is a must in this house!), a package of cheap paint brushes, and a giant notepad, and let them go to town. They had a great time!

And now, for the final masterpieces!

This just goes to show that sometimes the simplest things are the most fun, and you don’t have to spend much money to do a fun little project. My kids had so much fun painting!

What are your favorite types of art projects to do with your kids?
