It’s finally getting chilly down here in the South, and I’m ready to break out the hot chocolate and warm fuzzy socks. Luckily since we live in Atlanta, it doesn’t get too miserably cold here, but our basement play room does stay pretty cold throughout the fall and winter, especially at night and early in the morning. This is less than ideal for two reasons: Obviously, we don’t want our boys to freeze while they are playing with their toys downstairs, and also the room serves as an additional guest room since we have a futon down there. We’ve considered space heaters in the past, but they always seemed like such a safety hazard, and I just didn’t want to risk it. Then, I was contacted by Heat Storm and they gave me the opportunity to test out their Deluxe Wall Heater. This was the perfect solution to our problem.
The Heat Storm Deluxe is a quartz infrared wall heater, and it attaches to the wall and plugs into an outlet. It was so easy to install, I literally did it in about 5 minutes.
How smart is this handy level that they included in the package? You simply mark where the holes are and that’s where you will drill your holes. It hangs on two screws, which are included along with anchors. (P.S. Those are my 5 year-old son’s hands in case you were wondering if mine suddenly became strangely small.)
The unit is super lightweight, and since it just hangs on the screws it’s easy to remove if you ever want to stash it away. It’s small and compact, only taking up 2 sq ft of wall space. It can heat up to 500 sq ft of space. Here it is next to our toy basketball goal just to give you an idea of scale.
It also comes with a remote which is nice. It heats up very quickly, and it has an LED display.
The thing that made me want to try it out is that it is safe to the touch. This was really important to me. It does get a little hot where the heat comes out, so you don’t want to leave your child totally unattended with it, but I tested it out and touched it and it didn’t burn me. It may have if I had left my hand there for a few minutes, but I don’t think anyone is going to do that.
Now our basement stays nice and toasty, and the kids can comfortably play and hang out down there. I also have peace of mind in knowing that this heater is safe for them. Perfect timing too, because the play room is about to undergo a little mini-makeover, so I’ll show you more of that soon.
Now, for the best part! One of YOU will win a Heat Storm Deluxe Wall Heater of your own! Stay toasty warm this season. To enter, simply wait for the Rafflecopter box to load below and follow the instructions. The giveaway ends Monday, November 11.
