Living Room Progress, Plans + a New Rug

I had big plans for our living room (which will also be my office and craft space) when we first moved into our new home in January. Then I got pregnant and sick and all projects and plans came to a screeching halt. (Not that I’m complaining!) I’m slowly starting to feel human again, so I’m currently turning my focus to this room. This week, I finally got started on a room makeover.

First I want to show you the new rug we got for this space. It is the Tuscan Terali Moroccan Trellis Rug from Rugs USA, and the color is called “Sunshine.” This one is a 7’6″x9’6″ size. In real life, the color is sort of a “grellow” (green-yellow) in certain lighting, but a really nice “sunshine” yellow in natural light. It’s really modern and pretty, and super soft.

Here is a mood board (which includes the new rug) I designed for the room to show you the direction I’m headed. Obviously the finished product won’t be identical, but this is the feel I’m going for. (By the way I’m a little obsessed with creating mood boards now that I’ve figured out how, so you can expect to see lots more in the future!)

I had so much fun styling those tiny pretend shelves!

We still have a long way to go in this room, but at least we’re not where we started! Here are a couple quick shots of what the room looked like for the first 3 months of our life in this house. (Keep in mind this is the first room you see when you enter the house. Not pretty!) It became our “catch-all” space for all of our miscellaneous junk.

Yuck.

And here is the room now, with the new rug. (More details on the wall color, etc., coming very soon.)

Next up: furniture! (At some point.) I love the new rug and it definitely sets the stage for the bright, happy feeling I want to bring into this room.
