I had big plans for our living room (which will also be my office and craft space) when we first moved into our new home in January. Then I got pregnant and sick and all projects and plans came to a screeching halt. (Not that I’m complaining!) I’m slowly starting to feel human again, so I’m currently turning my focus to this room. This week, I finally got started on a room makeover.
First I want to show you the new rug we got for this space. It is the Tuscan Terali Moroccan Trellis Rug from Rugs USA, and the color is called “Sunshine.” This one is a 7’6″x9’6″ size. In real life, the color is sort of a “grellow” (green-yellow) in certain lighting, but a really nice “sunshine” yellow in natural light. It’s really modern and pretty, and super soft.
Here is a mood board (which includes the new rug) I designed for the room to show you the direction I’m headed. Obviously the finished product won’t be identical, but this is the feel I’m going for. (By the way I’m a little obsessed with creating mood boards now that I’ve figured out how, so you can expect to see lots more in the future!)
I had so much fun styling those tiny pretend shelves!

The rug is pretty! Is this the first rug you’ve ordered online? I’m nervous about ordering a rug online because I’m not sure how close the actual color will be when it arrives compared to how it appears to look online.
Thanks Allison! I’ve actually ordered several rugs online. What I usually do is check out all the reviews I can possibly find for the rug I like — often people will comment if the color looks different in person or if quality isn’t great. I also do a Google image search and search Pinterest for that specific rug so that I can see it in people’s homes if possible, since that normally gives me a better idea of color too. Hope this helps!

Erin- lOVE the mood board ideas you plan on using! This space is going to be fresh and pretty with all the products you chose to use. Perfect for a home office. The rug is very chic… I really like it alot! You just reminded me I should be using my Olioboard account for my basement renovation! Or maybe you used a different one? Anyway, looks great and gives you a good design plan! Can’t wait to see your progress…..:)
