Acrylic Knobs: New Cabinet “Jewelry”

August 4, 2014 By Erin Spain 8 Comments

I’ve heard that hardware is like “jewelry” for your cabinets and drawers, and I totally agree. It’s funny how much of an impact a little detail like hardware can have on a room, but it’s all the little details that add up to create a certain feeling or look in a space. When we moved into our new house, our built-in cabinets in the family room had plain white painted knobs. Not awful, but definitely boring!

When I attended the Haven Conference, D. Lawless Hardware was kind enough to give us a $25 gift card to use on their site, so I rushed home and ordered some pretty diamond-cut acrylic knobs. (It was hard to choose, cause they have an awesome selection!)

I went with acrylic instead of glass since I have wild children bouncing around the house and I know they would’ve broken off the glass knobs in about 2.2 seconds, but the acrylic still has a high-end look and adds a little “bling.”

Styled Built-ins and diamond-cut acrylic cabinet knobs

Changing out cabinet hardware is an easy and inexpensive way to give your cabinets a quick face lift, and depending on the color or type of hardware you choose, it really has the potential to make a big impact, especially in a kitchen or larger space.

As for our family room, I’ve already whitewashed the fireplace, but there’s still a lot on my “to do list” for this room, like adding interest to the back of the built-in shelves, hanging art/creating a gallery wall, new pillows, etc. I have been working on it quite a bit over the past few days, so I’ll show you more very soon!

I’m thinking of ordering the same acrylic knobs with a gold base for the closet doors in our nursery.

Have you changed out any cabinet hardware lately? Where’s your favorite place to buy new knobs or pulls?
