Calling All Black Thumbs: Introducing The Nimbus Pot Self-Watering Planter

October 14, 2015 By Erin Spain 26 Comments

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Nimbus Pot. All opinions are my own.

You guys, I have a serious black thumb. I’m trying really hard to do better, and I’m happy to say I’ve actually kept a few plants alive for the past several months, but normally it’s a serious problem. I’m happy to share my solution for keeping houseplants alive since I was recently introduced to a product that helps do just that. The Nimbus Pot is a self-watering planter that allows your plant to decide how much water it needs and when it needs it. You see, part of the reason my plants always die is because apparently you have to water them. I can’t seem to remember this simple task! Luckily now I don’t have to. The Nimbus Pot can keep your plants watered for up to 4 months.

When I first heard about the Nimbus Pot, I was very intrigued since I’m always killing plants. As you can see, it was intriguing to Jonah and Indy too.

The Nimbus Pot allows your plant to dictate how much water it needs, which helps prevent root rot. If you just don’t have a green thumb (guilty!) or if you travel a lot, this is the perfect solution.

Here’s how you set it up.

Adjust the plug on the bottom to indicate whether you’re using it indoors or outdoors.

Fill the plant area with soil.

Make a huge mess in your dining room. Just kidding — ignore that step. Add your plant to the pot.

Rotate and remove the handle.

Fill the reservoir with water.

Insert the handle and then just leave it alone until the float drops, which indicates that you need to refill the water.

I decided to add my snake plant (aka “Mother In-Law’s Tongue”) to the pot.

So far, so good. My plant is still alive after about a month, and I’m leaving it alone. I love having plants in the house, I’m just so irresponsible with them. I’m happy to have found something that makes caring for them easier. I love the modern design of the pot too — the white goes with any design aesthetic, or you can always give it a makeover or pop it into a basket or larger planter if you have a specific look you’re going for.

Check out the Nimbus Pot online to find out more about how it works, plus use the promo code below to get $10 off your purchase now through November 14!
