Welcome to my Christmas home tour! I am so excited to be partnering with several other bloggers to share our holiday home decor with you. (You can find the entire lineup at the end of this post.) If you’re new here, my name is Erin and I am the mommy to 3 sweet little boys. My husband Chris and I (and our wild little family) live in the Atlanta suburbs and we moved into our new house earlier this year. We’ve been working on turning it into our home (on a budget) ever since.
I managed to pull things together and decorate despite just having a baby, but I couldn’t have done it without the help of my two oldest boys who hung most of the ornaments on both Christmas trees for me while I snuggled with their baby brother and supervised from the couch. 😉
Here is (part of) our entryway — I’m still working on a project for the other side which I will share with you next week!
You may remember that right before I had Jonah, I went on a crazy nesting spree and made over the entryway, and built the entryway bench and coat rack. I also made the pillow on the bench using some cozy buffalo check fabric, plus I made some snowflake string art. I’ll be sharing the rest of the entryway next Thursday as part of a fun design challenge I am participating in, so please stop by again!
This year we have two Christmas trees, a kid tree and a “grown-up” tree. The kid’s tree is located in our main family room, and our grown-up tree (which we bought on sale at Target after Christmas a couple years ago and are finally using for the first time) is in our front living room.
Here is the grown-up tree which you can see to the right when you walk in the front door.
By the way, all of the fresh greenery, garland and poinsettias in the entryway came from Trader Joe’s — they are selling them for a steal!
I made the white paper feather ornaments, and the faux magnolia flowers and tree topper actually came from the dollar store. And although this is technically a “grown-up” tree, all of the bulbs are plastic. (Shhh… don’t tell.) Hey, I have a house full of wild boys, so I have to be practical.
My mother in-law has gotten us several pieces of the Willow Tree Nativity set, and it found a home on top of my card catalog cabinet.
The boys had free reign over the kid tree, so here it is in all of its cute, low-hanging ornaments glory.
Our mantel isn’t anything fancy, just some faux garland, handmade pom pom garland, and stockings for the boys. (Jonah will be getting his own “J” stocking like the big boys soon.)
Last but not least, here is a little vignette I put together in our dining room.
I built the chalkboard, made the monogram wreath last year, and I also made the glitter garland which I will share with you soon.
And just because I love glowing Christmas tree pictures, here is a photo of our tree glowing in the evening. (Before we added the magnolia flowers and tree topper.)
It may not be magazine worthy, but it’s cozy and warm and the perfect level of “festive” for our family. This will be our first Christmas in our new home, and the first year we will be staying at our own home for the holiday instead of traveling, so I really wanted to make it special even though I am in that newborn baby sleep deprivation phase of life once again. My boys love decorating for the holidays and they are looking forward to celebrating Christmas as a family.

Gorgeous, Erin! I love how you really catered to the the fact that you have three little guys and need to be smart about decorating with them in mind. I’ve got the Willow Tree nativity too and adore it (and I also just bought that tree topper from Dollar Tree!). Great idea about using the Magnolia flowers!
GLAD TO HAVE YOU AS PART OF THIS TOUR!

It all looks wonderful, Erin! We had a kids’ tree in our family room for years, too — such a great way to get the kids involved! I still have bins of all their little homemade ornaments from school, church, and Scouts! Hope you’re enjoying this special time with your sweet little fam. Sending holiday hugs!

What a beautiful home you have! Is the burlap tree skirt just burlap that has been “bunched up” underneath the tree? I love that look.
Erin @ DIY on the Cheap says
Thank you Bethany! It’s just a large scrap of burlap bunched up. 🙂

I love your entryway, and that tree is beautiful! I finally have a “grown-up” tree in my house too… my pretty tree is in the living room, and the boys get their own tree up in their bedroom. They happen to think it’s pretty awesome !:) So happy to be on this Christmas home tour with you!

Thanks Liz! Kid trees are so much fun. I love watching my boys’ faces light up when they decorate! They get so excited. 🙂

Congratulations again on the new addition 😉 He is so snuggly sweet and cute Erin!
You know what? …my favorite part of the tour, was that the kids tree was left alone and the ornaments are hanging low. It’s my favorite picture and speaks volumes sitting there so happy and full of Christmas magic!!!!Blessings and wishes for a most wonderful holiday for you and your family. ~Shannon
