Hello! Have you ever wanted your house to look like a page out of one of those home magazines, but you don’t quite have the budget for it? (Or anywhere near it…) Me too. I started this blog to share some of the DIY/Craft/Decor-on-a-dime ideas I have come across and tried lately (or plan to try soon). Many of these ideas are inspired by Pinterest, other blogs, magazines, TV shows, etc. I do not claim them all as my own! I’m not THAT creative. Just frugal and inspired to make my home look nice while not breaking the bank. Plus, a good DIY project is always a fun challenge. Especially if you are like me and you pour your whole life into being a Mom, so you need a creative outlet to make sure you don’t succumb to permanent Mommy-brain.
My first project I would like to share was inspired by… you guessed it, Pinterest! Who isn’t addicted to Pinterest these days? I made this DIY decorative Roman Shade for my kitchen window.
For step-by-step instructions, follow this great tutorial here, which I just modified a little bit. I didn’t have enough fabric to double it like she did, and it would’ve been a bit expensive to order more, so I just used plain white canvas fabric as the backing. I used fabric glue to connect the top and bottom of my patterned fabric to the white canvas. Affordable, quick and easy. The whole project took me about an hour. I got all of my supplies at Hobby Lobby, and ordered the fabric on ebay.
Tip: Be sure to iron carefully to get crisp edges after you glue the hems. (I ironed before and after.)
If you have any DIY projects you’d like to share, please send me a message or comment and I will choose some of them to try for this blog. Thanks!
