I don’t know about you, but I am so ready for Fall. We had a relatively mild summer by Atlanta standards, but I feel like some of the recent weeks have more than made up for it with the scorching heat. I’ve decided to start embracing Fall in our home despite the fact that it still feels very much like summer outside. One way I’ve done this is by transitioning our Summer Chalkboard into a Fall Chalkboard.
While I was doing this, I realized that I never even showed you my summertime message. (I’m no artist, so please don’t judge!):
My summer chalkboard was inspired by something that Daune from Cottage in the Oaks posted on Instagram and I totally copied it. Luckily Daune is really sweet and I knew she wouldn’t mind.
I’m not sure if you remember but I built this chalkboard a few months ago (you can find the tutorial here), and it was a fun little addition to our office/living room. I love that it’s such an easy way to personalize the space and that we can change the message with the seasons.
After working on changing my chalkboard art, I headed off to pick Aiden up from school and came face to face with this little lady as I drove down our driveway.
I backed up, ran inside and grabbed my camera, then drove back down the driveway to snap pics as I passed by. She stopped to pose and didn’t seem to mind at all. We see deer pretty often at our house, but they usually run away pretty quickly and I always miss the photo op. She inspired me to add the antlers to the chalkboard.
What type of wildlife hangs around your home? Are you decorating for Fall at your house? Or still clinging to the last moments of Summer?

We get lots of coyotes, quail, pheasants, and the occasional deer. I haven’t decorated for fall as I’m still knee deep in my kitchen renovation, and dealing with school…. I am however already thinking about Christmas…. Going to have to get moving on that kitchen of mine…

Good luck with the kitchen renovation! I know that can be stressful. Hope it goes smoothly!

What a fun surprise to see the deer and that she stuck around for a photo. The chalkboard looks very cute. I am totally crushing on that antique fan, too!

Thanks Kristen! The fan was a lucky find at one of our blogger meetups! I got it at the Canton Street Antique Market in Roswell. 🙂

Thanks Katie! It’s fun changing it out periodically. Especially for someone like me who gets tired of things fast!
