This year is flying by, and I can’t believe it’s already time to think about decorating for Halloween! I put together this quick and easy craft project using a few simple supplies. Normally I hate spiders of any kind (even of the fake variety), but I made an exception for this Halloween planter box! See the full tutorial below.

Halloween Planter Box Tutorial
Step 1:
First, tape off stripes around your box using painter’s tape. I just eyeballed it, but you can certainly measure if you want them to be perfectly spaced. I made 3 stripes but then I decided to use the ribbon, so you can skip the middle stripe.
Step 2:
Paint over your tape using FolkArt Home Decor Chalk Paint in Rich Black. I applied it with the FolkArt Home Decor Chalk brush, which I love. This paint is great because you don’t have to sand or prime beforehand, and it’s also water-based and nontoxic which makes for easy cleanup. It has an ultra matte chalk finish and it’s super easy to distress if you like that look. It’s also made in the USA and comes in multiple sizes.
Step 3:
After your paint has dried, peel off the tape.
Step 4:
Apply a thin layer of FolkArt Home Decor Wax using the Wax Brush.
Step 5:
When the wax has dried, hot glue your ribbon around the middle of your box. Then, glue on your spider.
Add a plant and you’re done!
