If you happen to follow me on Instagram, then you have probably seen me post about the fact that my boys have asthma. Our pediatrician recently referred us to an allergist, and the boys underwent some testing to see if they have specific triggers that cause their periodic flare-ups. They tested negative for allergies, but the doctor said it’s possible they could still be developing them and they are probably sensitive to environmental factors and fluctuations in air quality. One thing I’ve noticed is that their initial flare-ups always happen during the night. I still use a baby monitor in their room because it happens so suddenly and it is so scary. Shortly after Jake’s latest flare-up, I had the opportunity to connect with Honeywell at the Haven Conference where they showed me their new Honeywell Bluetooth Smart Air Purifier. I immediately thought, “I need that in my life!” It seemed like the perfect thing to help with my boys’ respiratory issues. I’m willing to do whatever it takes.
This Honeywell air purifier has so many bells and whistles and it has blown me away. I am so impressed! The first night I opened it and set it up in the boys’ room, I kept texting my family members about all of the amazing features it comes with. This machine is best for large rooms, which is perfect since their room is quite big. There are multiple modes including general cleaning for everyday use, allergen mode for peak allergy season, and germ mode to capture germs during cold and flu season. It also filters VOCs and reduces odors.
My favorite part though is the fact that I can control the entire unit from an app on my phone. This means that I don’t even have to enter their room if I want to turn it on or off or change the mode, so I don’t have to tiptoe into their room and risk waking them up if I forget to turn it on before they go to bed. I can set a schedule or turn on a shutoff timer, all from my phone. Here is a screenshot of the app:
Not only can I control the unit from the app, but it also sends me allergen alerts when certain counts (like mold or ragweed) are high in my area.
It also tells me when I need to replace the filters and allows me to order them directly from my phone. Above all else, this air purifier provides me with peace of mind in knowing that their air quality is as clean as it can possibly be.
This unit is a little bit large, but it fits nicely beside their dresser and really isn’t very intrusive. I highly recommend it for a larger space in your home. It actually works perfectly for their bedroom.
