Choosing a Nursery Glider

November 10, 2014 By Erin Spain 34 Comments

You guys, we are so close to having the nursery done! All I have left to do is hang art and make/hang curtains. Considering where we started, we’ve come a long way. We recently got a new piece of furniture for the room and I am so excited about it! Check out the world’s most comfy (and pretty) nursery glider: The Custom Habersham upholstered glider from Home Decorator’s Collection.

Home Decorators Collection Habersham Glider in Zanzibar Dove

We still have our old glider from when the boys were babies, and although it’s a little worn and could use a good cleaning, we will use that one in our bedroom as a backup. I chose this new glider because I wanted something stylish, comfortable, and something that could transition from being a nursery piece to something we can use in another area of our home later on. I ordered this one in the “Zanzibar Dove” color — a really pretty, neutral gray. It’s part of Home Decorators Collection’s new baby and children’s line called Spencer & Gracie.

There are a few reasons I love this glider. First of all, I love that it doesn’t look like a typical nursery glider. It’s a piece of furniture we can use even after the baby phase is over, so it’s a great investment. It fits in with our home’s decor and we can put it in a living space without it screaming, “Hey! I’m a nursery glider!” I also love the texture of this particular fabric and the fact that the chair swivels. Oh, and I love that it’s the most comfortable chair ever. When it was delivered to our house, it sat in our entryway for a few hours until Chris came home and carried it upstairs. I sat down in it, and I literally dozed off for a bit right there by the front door. Yes, I was exhausted that day, but it really was just that comfy.

Best nursery glider ever! Habersham glider from Home Decorators Collection.

One word of advice if you choose to order this glider — order it early! Each one is custom made (in the USA, by the way!) and takes about 8 weeks to be delivered. It’s well worth the wait though. Also, there are several different fabric options to choose from.

I’m still playing around with rearranging things and finishing everything up, but the finish line is so close!

You can check out past nursery posts here, here, here, here, here, and here. I hope to have the room finished in the next week or so (considering my due date is in 2 weeks and my other two babies were each a few days early!), and I look forward to sharing lots of photos soon.

UPDATE: You can see the finished nursery reveal here.

Disclosure: Thank you to Home Decorators Collection for providing this glider for free to review. All opinions are my own.

Thanks Carrie! I wish I’d had it when my boys were babies too, but definitely happy to at least have it now for my third (and final!) baby!

Erin, it is beautiful. Love that your nursery is so classy. You will love this chair. I have a swivel rocker and it is the most sat on chair in the house!! Two weeks to go, so excited for you and your family!!

Oh my it’s gorgeous! I never realized how much and how important it was to have a good glider. We bought a used one on Craigslist. Big mistake… Hardly any cushion and squeaks! Jon has to oil it weekly. In hindsight if I could change anything about the nursery I would not have been so cheap and invested in a good cushiony glider!

Thanks Katie! I lived in the glider for the first year of each of my boys’ lives, so our old one is quite worn out. I knew I wanted something comfy since I always spend so much time rocking my babies and sitting in it to nurse!

I love the glider, Erin! I am so jealous too – I had an ugly one – so wish I would have had something more like this!

Love the glider Erin! I am going to have to check out their regular chairs because I have been looking for a chair just like that (but not necessarily a glider) for our living room. Can’t wait to see the whole nursery. Loving that poof too!

Love the glider! I have been looking for something similar. How is it working now that you’ve been able to use it? I’m worried about it being too short…was this an issue for you? Thanks so much!

Thanks Erica! I really love it. I am short myself (5’3″) so I don’t notice it being too short, personally. My husband sits in it fine too. It’s very comfortable!

Hi Amy! It came from Home Decorators Collection, and their furniture is now available through Home Depot, so you could check there! Not sure if they still have this exact one, but worth a try!
