I’ve been a little bit MIA recently, between my visit home to Indiana and then our family vacation to the Blue Ridge Mountains. I’m so excited to share our mountain trip with you today. I shared our Blue Ridge trip with you last year, but this year we stayed in a different town and had a whole new adventure. Each year we go on vacation with my husband’s entire family (his parents, 3 brothers and their families), and although our family is growing quickly, so far we’ve all been able to stay in one mountain house together. This year there were 16 of us! We stayed in Boone, NC, and hiked the Blue Ridge Mountains. Since my sister in-law and I are both pregnant this year, plus there are several small children in the family, we tried to stick to easy/moderate trails rather than the really strenuous ones. I don’t want to babble on and on though — I really just want to let the pictures do the talking. If you’ve never been to the Blue Ridge Mountains, it is breathtaking and I highly recommend a trip!
Our favorite hike was Rough Ridge Trail. It was the most strenuous trail we did, but the kids and I were still able to make it to the top just fine. The views were stunning!
We also loved Linville Falls.
Julian Price Park was the perfect spot to let the kids splash in the creek. (That’s their favorite mountain activity!)
Last year we stayed in Brevard, NC, which we also loved. Each place has different things to offer, and you really can’t go wrong with either one. This year our house in Boone was about a 5 hour drive from our home in Atlanta. We stopped over in Asheville for a night on our way to the mountains which we love to do every year. If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw that we visited the Antique Tobacco Barn — a treasure hunter’s dream! We try to stop in whenever we are in town. While were were staying in Boone, we also explored the little nearby town of Blowing Rock which was very cute and quaint.
I feel blessed that we were able to create such precious memories with our family, and I know our boys loved every minute of it.
Do you have a favorite family vacation spot? What are your favorite places to explore? I’d love to hear about your adventures too!
