You all know by now that I’m a huge fan of RYOBI tools. I have several and I haven’t found one yet that I didn’t like. I was really happy to have the opportunity to try out one of their new outdoor tools, the RYOBI 18V Hybrid String Trimmer. I’m excited to tell you all about it – plus don’t miss the GIVEAWAY at the end of this post for your chance to win your own RYOBI string trimmer!
First of all, I can’t believe I am even going to share pictures of my yard with you. The amount of weeds occupying our yard is so embarrassing! We have a lawn guy who comes to mow, but we are on an acre of mostly wooded property and the weeds spread like crazy in the areas he can’t mow. For instance, this area in front of our house which lines the front and leads to our porch.
I swear, those things grow a foot overnight! Not to worry. My new string trimmer came to the rescue. It’s super easy to use for trimming and edging. What I love about it is that it’s cordless and takes the same 18V battery as the rest of my RYOBI tools, but it also has the option of plugging in with an extension cord. I love the fact that you have either option. It doesn’t require gasoline which automatically makes it less scary to me. It also has an adjustable cut-width edger capability. It’s lightweight, and you can adjust the length which is convenient for short folks like me. My husband and I both gave it a try, and we agreed that it is super easy to use and does the job well.
To be honest, yard work isn’t my favorite thing in the world, but this string trimmer makes it so much faster and easier. Plus, outdoor tools can be intimidating, and this one isn’t at all. That’s part of the reason I really wanted to try it out. We decided that our yard is a great spot to try this tool out since it is so overgrown with weeds, so it really put this string trimmer to the test. It did great! If you opt to use the battery rather than plugging it in and you happen to have a big yard with a lot of weeds like we do, I recommend having a backup battery charged up. We kept one battery on the charger and one in the trimmer and then switched them out as needed. (They charge pretty quickly.)
Here’s the same area now – we still need to “pretty it up” but it’s looking much better already.
Now, for the fun part! RYOBI is generously giving an 18V Hybrid String Trimmer to one of my readers. To enter, simply wait for the Rafflecopter box to load below and follow the instructions. The giveaway ends Tuesday, August 13 at Midnight EST.

Disclaimer: Always be sure to wear proper safety gear! I did gear up with tennis shoes, jeans and ear protection after this photo, as did my husband who did the bulk of the work. There was some concern raised and I just want to be clear that safety is always the most important thing!
