One of my main goals with this blog is to inspire people, women in particular, to get creative and try new things. I like to show you that if I can do things like use power tools and build things, then so can you. I don’t possess any special training or qualifications — I just learn through experience, and I hope to show you that DIY projects aren’t always as difficult or intimidating as they may seem. I am beyond excited to share with you that I will be partnering with The Home Depot to lead some of their Do-It Herself Workshops throughout the year. I will be hosting locally (Atlanta) as well as a couple of other cities which I will share with you when plans are finalized.
What are the DIH Workshops? They are held monthly at all The Home Depot store locations and are meant to empower women to tackle home improvement projects. With demonstrations as well as an opportunity to get hands-on, these workshops are a great opportunity to get advice from the pros while enjoying a fun ladies night out at the same time. The workshops are held the third Thursday of the month, and the next one will be held on Thursday, April 16, from 6:30-8:00 pm. To sign up at a store near you, you can use this registration link. I will be hosting at the Cumberland Store on Cumberland Pkwy in Atlanta. I would love to see some of you there!
At the April workshop, we will be building a paver planter similar to this one.
This is the perfect project to dress up your patio or deck this spring, and there are so many ways you can customize it to suit your style. (I’ll be designing and building my own version, so stay tuned for that soon!) Head out to a workshop near you and learn how to build it using a few easy tools. The Home Depot is the perfect place to find all the tools and supplies you need for outdoor spring DIY projects. Did you know that they are one of the largest sellers of lawn and garden products? I should know since I am there approximately every five minutes. Ha! It really is my home away from home.
I hosted a local DIH workshop a little over a year ago and it was so much fun! I can’t wait to do it again. This is the perfect opportunity for a girls’ night out, so grab a few friends and sign up! You can also follow along with hashtag #DIHWorkshop on social media. You don’t have to have any DIY experience to attend. These workshops are fun for women of all DIY experience levels.
Will you be attending a DIH Workshop? Let me know in the comments! And if you are local and will be attending at the Cumberland store in Atlanta, definitely give me a heads up so I can be on the lookout for you! I would love to say hello.

I don’t live anywhere near Atlanta so I was wondering if you’ll be posting a how to on this as well? Thanks! Danielle

Hi Danielle! These workshops are taking place nationwide, so if you click the registration link in my blog post, you can sign up at a store nearest to you. As for a tutorial, I will be posting one but it will be a tutorial of my own customized version of this planter. It will be the same basic build plan, but I’m customizing mine to look different, and I will be sharing that soon!

Is there a fee for these workshops or do we need to bring any supplies? Sounds fun!
Erin @ DIY on the Cheap says
Hi Brittany! The workshops are free, and you will have the option to buy your own project supplies and build your own later. The workshop will allow you to get hands on and learn exactly how to build it.

Yay!! So excited for you about this! For one, because I always forget about the workshops but will be seeing your posts about them which will help me remember (wish Home Depot had a monthly reminder email that they would send out…) and two because I hope to come to one you are hosting sometime! I really hope to and plan to get more involved with these workshops and with building my own projects this year – I loved the one I attended last year.

I wish I could come to visit your Home Depot – I love the #DIH workshops! I have to stay close to home that day. But we built TWO of the paver planters and LOVE THEM.

Wish you could come to Cumberland too but I totally understand! It’s a bit of a trek for me too. That’s awesome that you built two of them! This is such a fun spring project. Off to check out yours now!
