Tightening Bolts with the Milwaukee 56 pc Ratchet/Socket Set

If you missed it the other day, I recently completed a little landscaping project in our back yard, and I used a large garden tiller for the job. Since it was a piece of equipment that we had to partially assemble, tightening bolts was a task that was involved. While I was using the tiller I noticed that some of the bolts had loosened a bit and needed tightening, and luckily I had the perfect tools for the job. I used the Milwaukee 56 piece 3/8″ Drive Ratchet and Socket Set, and it came in so handy!

This is such a nice set and has a wide variety of socket sizes, and the sizes are stamped onto each socket, which I like. I chose the appropriate size socket and connected it to my ratchet, then fixed the loose bolts quickly and easily. Oh, and ignore the yard full of weeds. That’s on the project to do list too!

These tools have a 90 tooth design with 4 degrees of arc swing for tight work spaces, which is a great feature. I also love that the parallel flat sides on the sockets keep them from rolling away. The portable carrying case is super durable and has a removable inner storage tray. Plus, this set has a lifetime guarantee.

These sockets also have a wrench compatible design, so they really are very versatile. It comes with standard sized sockets as well as 3 inch and 6 inch extensions and a universal swivel 90 tooth ratchet.

I’ve actually never owned a socket set and now I’m wondering why on earth I didn’t have one before. I’ve always just used a wrench but I could never get the bolts as tight as I wanted them, plus there are plenty of times when the wrench just wouldn’t fit into a tight space. This solves that problem.

My sweet little helper LOVED playing with this set while I worked and he enjoyed “helping” me attach the sockets to the ratchet. And I love that this is a job he can easily and safely help with. He’s always hanging around in my workshop and there are so many tasks that are just too dangerous for him to help me with or even be nearby while I’m doing them, so it was nice having him around to be my assistant for this.

Another thing I’ll be using this set for is to tighten the nuts and bolts on my welding table, as those often come loose. (It’s a cheap table.) I also think this set would make a great gift for any DIYer. (Or really any homeowner, because let’s face it, eventually you’re going to need to tighten a bolt.) I’ve been brainstorming all of the different things I can use it for, and I’m searching the house for anything that might have a loose bolt. I never really realized how much more convenient a ratchet is than a regular wrench, particularly for tight and narrow spaces. You can find this Milwaukee ratchet and socket set at Home Depot. What would you use it for? Let me know in the comments!
