Here is a quick and easy craft for Valentine’s Day:
“Be Mine” Valentine Garland
Materials I used for this project: Scrapbook paper; little wooden letters and a wooden heart (I bought a package of assorted letters and shapes for $3.99 at the craft store); Red acrylic paint and small paint brush; Glue gun; glue stick; Scissors; Tape; and Twine.
First I painted each letter and the wooden heart with fast-drying red acrylic craft paint.
While the letters were drying, I folded a piece of paper in half and cut out a heart shape. This became my stencil. (I wanted all of my hearts to look the same.) I then traced the stencil on the back of my scrapbook paper until I had enough hearts for each letter, and then cut them out. I used red scrapbook paper for the “space” heart between the 2 words, which the wooden heart is glued onto. I cut out a smaller heart using my patterned paper and used a glue stick to attach it to the red paper.
Then, I used my glue gun to attach all of the letters and wooden heart to my paper hearts.
Last, I taped twine to the back of each heart, and then it was ready to hang!
The whole thing took me maybe 30-40 minutes. You can spell out whatever you want, and use any pattern/colors you like. You could also use ribbon instead of twine. This idea could be used for any holiday, just pick out patterns that compliment whatever the occasion may be. Scrapbook paper can cost as little as a few cents a sheet, and there are tons of colors and styles to choose from. This project was quick, only cost a few bucks, and added a cute little “touch” of Valentine’s Day to our home.
