Ok friends, as most of you know I have a huge “to do” list when it comes to our home, and thanks to Pinterest the list keeps growing every time I see something and become inspired to create/transform/paint something new.
Here is a very shortened version of that list just to give you a preview of what’s to come in the near future.
Right at the top of the list is an upcoming dining room makeover. This includes painting the walls and adding some sort of art/decor, curtains and a rug (at some point). This is not going to happen overnight, but I will keep you posted on my progress. I plan on starting within the next couple of weeks. I know the pictures don’t show it, but there are lots of holes in the walls that need patched, and the paint really needs touched up, so we are just going to go for a new look and paint it a soft gray (as I’ve mentioned before).
Here it is now:
Also, remember this library card catalog cabinet (pictured below) that my awesome Grandma found for me (for free!)? Well, guess what? The rest of it has finally arrived thanks to a visit from my dad and brother, who so generously hauled the rest of the bits and pieces down to our house all the way from Indiana. (Thank you!) I can’t wait to get started on this project, but quite a project it will be. Can’t wait to show it to you when it’s all done! (Assuming I don’t totally ruin it somehow.)
I also plan on doing “something” to our living room/office. Not quite sure yet what that “something” will be, but clearly it is unfinished. Paint? Curtains? Accessories? Who knows what will happen in here.
Here it is in its current, unfinished state:
I am also going to be experimenting with some chalkboard paint which believe it or not, I’ve never done! (Except for the chalkboard spray paint I used for my 4th of July Centerpiece.)
On top of all of this, I am in the middle of working on our guest bedroom, which is probably the most blank slate of the whole house. Right now I’m debating on a color scheme, but as soon as I decide on that, then I can get to work on it. I don’t even have pictures of this room yet because I literally haven’t done anything in here except paint a headboard for it which is still sitting in our garage.
Oh and one more thing on my “to do in 2012” list: Learn to sew!! I plan on doing this sooner rather than later. In fact, I can’t believe it’s taken me this long. Can you believe I don’t know how? Well guess what, I am turning the big 3-0 next month and I’m thinking a cheapo sewing machine might just be my birthday present to myself, along with some sewing lessons (maybe for free from my good friend Erica from Dancing Zebras! Like how I just put her on the spot? Haven’t even asked her. But I did throw in a link to her super fabulous Etsy shop just to make it harder for her to say no! Kidding. Kinda.)
Well, that’s what’s on the agenda for me for the next few weeks, along with other random miscellaneous projects. Can’t wait to show you the “after” pics when I’m all done!
What’s on YOUR to-do list right now? Leave a comment and let me know!

Erin Spain says
Hmm haven’t thought about b-day celebration yet. Maybe a girls’ night? Or even better, a girls’ weekend at Dana’s place in Savannah? (Wow, I’m really putting EVERYONE on the spot today! Haha!)
Dana says
Would love to celebrate with you! We need to start looking at weekends and make it happen! And I’m thinking we will all put Erica an the spot and do a group lesson 🙂
Erin Spain says
Sounds like a plan! And a group lesson is a great idea!

That is a long list! I can’t wait to see how it all turns out 🙂 If you end up going to any sewing classes somewhere, let me know and maybe I can join you.

Sounds good, Sally! I will let you know!
