Well, the 4th of July is coming up in just a couple days, so I decided to whip up a quick and easy patriotic centerpiece to celebrate the occasion. First, let’s get the obvious out of the way: You may be thinking, “But Erin, why is your centerpiece sitting on the floor?” Well, that would be a valid question. And I will answer it! Our house has tons of trees around it, which means lots of shade, which is good for hot summers in the South but bad for indoor photos. So I had to move the centerpiece to one of the few spots in the house where I can get decent natural light for photos – the dining room floor. So let’s pretend it’s on a table – I know you all can use your imaginations!
Here is a picture of it on a real table:
Here’s what I used for this project:
Glass bottles; sandpaper; spray primer; chalkboard spray paint; chalk; twine; washi tape; wooden skewers; scrapbook paper; scissors; and tape.
This was very easy. I just used glass bottles (the large one is an olive oil bottle and the small ones are glass soda bottles). I lightly sanded and primed them, then spray painted them with Rust-Oleum chalkboard spray paint and wrote on them with chalk. I wrapped the rims with cute washi tape and twine (red baker’s twine for the small bottle on left, jute twine for the one on the right). I cut little stars out of scrapbook paper and taped them to the end of the wooden skewers, and stuck them inside the bottles. Done!
I already had the chevron tray (a One Kings Lane purchase), and the cute patriotic bowls came from the Target dollar bin.
How are you spending the 4th of July? Did you make any fun patriotic crafts?
