Well it’s full steam ahead with project “baby to big boy room,” and I’m nearing the end of “prep-and-gather-materials” mode. One major bummer though: our Craigslist dresser deal fell through when the guy decided to sell it out from under us. He didn’t even let us know until we called to tell him we were on our way. Needless to say, I wasn’t happy. So now I’m scrambling to find the perfect dresser for the room. Why am I scrambling? Well, starting this Wednesday the room makeover has to be put into action and finished within 2 weeks. And that brings me to the exciting/terrifying news: I am going to be filmed working on this makeover. I’ll share what it’s for very soon, but for now suffice it to say that it’s an exciting opportunity but I am scared out of my wits to be on camera! You can follow along with me on Instagram for fun behind-the-scenes stuff this Wednesday, February 6. My friend Erica will be hanging out and helping me with things, including documenting the experience for me and “guest-Instagramming” for me. (This is my own fancy terminology which really just means snapping pics with my iPhone and sharing them with you.) She’ll probably be sharing pics on her Instagram too.
As for room-prep updates, here’s a sneak peek (I previously posted on Instagram/Twitter/FB) of some of the fabric, etc., for the room so you can kinda get an idea of where I’m headed style-wise. Not sure if I’ll use it all or not, we’ll see once the room starts coming together what needs to be edited down.
I also found a metal magazine holder at a thrift store that I plan on spray painting (white? navy? not sure yet) which will hold a few books next to the boys’ new chair.
For under $5, I couldn’t pass it up. I had originally planned on using a wall-mounted magazine rack to store a few books next to the chair, but my husband brought to my attention the fact that that thing would be ripped down in 2.2 seconds flat so we agreed it wasn’t the best idea. Enter thrift store cheapo metal rack instead.
Erica also found some large thrift store frames for me which I will be using for a project on the wall above each of their beds.
They’ll look totally different when I’m done with them. And ha! – just realized the picture on the right is upside down. That goes to show how little attention I paid to it since I’m ripping that sucker out and just using the frame anyway.
I also created this printable after being inspired by Shanty-2-Chic’s adorable version. I made my own so that I could make sure it coordinated with the color scheme for the room. I absolutely love this Marc Brown quote, and it is a perfect fit for my boys! I will be framing it and using it as wall art.

On another note, I totally missed my one year “blogaversary” which was last week. I can’t believe it’s been a year already! This blog has grown so much and it’s become such a huge part of my life, not to mention a wonderful creative outlet for me. I have you all to thank for that – so THANK YOU! From the bottom of my heart, I thank you all for taking the time to read my ramblings and for keeping up with this blog. Never in a million years did I think one year ago when I started this blog that it would become what it is now. It has led to so many fun opportunities, and I have met so many amazing friends through this experience. But without readers like you, none of that would be possible. Each one of you is such a blessing to me! I just want to make sure that you know that.
Anyway, stay tuned for more info on my exciting day(s) being followed around by a (very small) camera crew. And wish me luck on the room makeover so I don’t make an idiot of myself on TV! Oh who am I kidding, I might do that anyway. Let’s just hope their coverage consists of more than just me huddled in the corner breathing into a paper bag.
Oh – and one more thing! I just found out I’ve been nominated for a 2013 Apartment Therapy Homie Award. Feel free to hop over and check out a long list of great blogs, and vote for your fave while you’re there (hint, hint.)
