I wanted to add a personal touch to our Christmas tree this year, and any time I’m able to incorporate anything mason jar-related, I’m happy. (Read why Ball jars in particular are near and dear to my heart here.) I created this Mason Jar Lid Christmas Garland – a simple but impactful bit of holiday decor.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Several mason jar lids
- Spray primer
- Metallic gold spray paint
- Jute twine
- Hot glue gun
First, lay out your lids and spray them with primer. Allow them to dry, then spray them with a coat of metallic gold spray paint. When your lids have dried completely, dab the back of each lid with a dot of hot glue, and stick it to a strand of jute twine. I spaced mine about 6 inches apart.
There are so many possibilities for these. You could spray them with glitter for a really sparkly look, or even alternate colors with red/green or silver/gold. Red and white baker’s twine would be fun too if you want to go colorful rather than rustic with the jute. You could also space them closer together depending on how many lids you have. You could even glue photos to each one.
I love how the light reflects off of the shiny surface of the lids. It added just the right amount of “bling” to our sweet little tree.
Are you adding anything “homemade” to your tree this year?
