I recently came across this online shop called Suite One Studio, and there are absolutely stunning handmade ceramic dishes and goodies available. I sent the link to my husband with a “hint hint — if you ever need a gift idea for me” message, and then I decided it might be fun to play around and try to create something inspired by the shop. I loved the navy swirl ring dish, so I recreated my own DIY version using bakeable polymer clay, acrylic paint, and liquid gold leaf. (I still want the original, though.) I spent no money on this project since I am a craft supply hoarder and I had all of these things on hand.
Out of respect for the original artist I am not going to post a step by step tutorial even though my method and materials are different than hers (it isn’t complicated since I used polymer clay and not glazed ceramic — just shape, bake, paint, gild the edge). You should definitely check out the shop though. Her work is reminiscent of watercolor painting, but on ceramic. I’m in love with it!
Here are some more photos of my abstract navy brushstroke DIY ring dish.
What inspires you to create? I find inspiration all over the place, but today, I’m loving this shop.

This is so pretty! I love the blue swirls and the gold edge. What an easy DIY but perfect for my rings! 🙂
