The Dwell with Dignity installation date is quickly approaching, and I’ve been doing a lot of DIY coordinating behind the scenes for the past few weeks. This week, we finally got into the studio and started working on projects for the home. I know in my original post I mentioned that we would be making over a home for a mother and her daughter. Due to unforeseen circumstances, plans have changed and we will now be making over a home for a mom and her 2 little boys. (We still hope to make over a home for the original family soon too!) I’m so excited about this project, especially since we’ll be working on a room for 2 little boys who love Legos and superheroes, and I happen to know a thing or two about that. 😉
I can’t reveal too much just yet, but here are some photos from the studio:
Emily, Kelley and Julie work on assembling furniture. Not sure how Dena didn’t end up in this photo!
We used an old-school projector to create some artwork which I can’t wait to show you!
Photographer Christina Wedge even got in on the DIY action. We traded roles for the day as I snapped photos and she did some DIY. 🙂
She was a great DIY-er!
Here we are with designer Kerry Howard.
We had a late night studio session with Heather, Sarah and Lacey.
Excuse my tired eyes, it was late and it had been a long day!
I want to say thank you so very much to my amazing Atlanta Blogger’s Group for stepping up and helping out with this project! They have been wonderful.
I also want to say thank you to Luda at Sewing Salon Incanto in Gainesville, GA for volunteering to sew pillows for us. If you are in her area and need a seamstress, check her out! You can also connect with her on Facebook.
Thanks also to Minwax for providing Polycrylic for our furniture projects, and thank you to DIYDecorator.com for donating a window cornice. A big huge thanks to Mohawk Flooring for providing carpet too. Thanks to all of the amazing companies and individuals who have contributed their time, money, or products to this project for this very deserving family.
I have been amazed at everyone’s willingness to jump in and get involved. I can’t wait to see it all come together, and of course I can’t wait to show it to you!
Also, if you’re in the Atlanta area, we would love for you to come to the wrap party! Here’s your official invitation:
Lisa and Kim from Dwell with Dignity will be presenting this project at the Design Bloggers Conference here in Atlanta on Tuesday, March 4. I am beyond thrilled to have won the Hansgrohe Scholarship to attend the conference! I applied because the conference was not in my budget, and I truly didn’t think in a million years I would win, so I am very excited. Candice Olson will also be speaking and she’s one of my HGTV faves. I look forward to soaking in all of the interior design wisdom and of course sharing the experience with you.
Will I see you at the Dwell wrap party? If you’ll be there, please let me know!
If you’re new here, please consider subscribing via RSS or by email.

Thanks Gretchen! I’m looking forward to seeing it all come together too. And I am definitely replicating the plywood art for my own home at some point! I’m really excited about it!
