Halloween Chalkboard Bottle

September 17, 2012 By Erin Spain 4 Comments

I know it’s a bit early for Halloween decor, but I made a few things recently for an online article on another site (more on that later) and I wanted to share a few things with you. Today, I’m sharing this easy Halloween Chalkboard Bottle. I actually recycled this from my 4th of July decor.

Easy Halloween Chalkboard Bottle

What you’ll need:

  • Glass bottle (I used an olive oil bottle.)
  • Sandpaper
  • Chalkboard Spray paint (Can be found at craft store or hardware store.)
  • Chalk
  • Wooden Skewers
  • Plastic Spiders
  • Jute Twine
  • Glue Gun

First, rough up the surface of your glass bottle using sandpaper. This will help the paint adhere to the glass. Then, spray it with two coats of chalkboard spray paint and allow to dry overnight.

I wrapped the top of the bottle with jute twine, hot gluing in place. Write any message you like with chalk (I chose “Trick or Treat”) – this can be changed out depending on the occasion.

I then stuck 3 wooden skewers at various lengths inside the bottle, hot gluing a plastic spider to each one. I attached a spider to the jute twine around the top of the bottle too.

This is a fun, easy project that can be adapted to suit any holiday. Simply change out the wording and the objects attached to the skewers depending on the occasion.

Cute, who doesn’t love chalkboard! I finally made my fall wreath yesterday and am working on the mantle. I’m trying to think of something unique!

I’m working on fall decor too! Was hoping to have my fall decor up in September and the incorporate the Halloween starting in October. Thanks for reminding me to get my butt into gear!
