Halloween is coming up pretty soon, and I’ve had a lot of fun decorating so far! We just took the boys to a pumpkin patch last week, and I am in full-on “Fall” mode. Today, I’m sharing my Halloween Vignette. This was done on a budget (as usual), and everything I incorporated into this little arrangement was extremely easy. I’m going to break it down piece by piece and let you know how everything was made.
Framed “Boo” Art:
I used a frame I already had which happened to have a triple mat. The “Boo” letters were made with a black crayon, stencils and orange construction paper. I literally opened my kitchen drawer, saw construction paper and crayons, and made this in two seconds. Easy!
Embellished Vase with Branches:
The basic glass vase came from the dollar store. I hot glued wide black ribbon around it, and glued on some fabric flowers which I also made using strips of fabric and hot glue. (Just twist and dot glue, winding the fabric around until it is the size you want it.) The branches came from our yard, and the spiders and glittery skeletons came from Party City. I’m sure they have similar ones at the dollar store.
Boo Candy Jar:
I posted about this project here.
Trick or Treat Chalkboard Bottle:
I also posted about this project, and it can be found here.
As for the cobwebs, spiders and bats, they were found at Party City and the dollar store. The little glass jar beside the branch-filled vase is one that I already had, and I filled it with orange plastic spiders. I got the spooky black fabric at Jo-Anns.
Anyone who knows me is aware that this project was difficult for me because of my out of control arachnophobia. I seriously have a major irrational fear of spiders. I can handle snakes and other gross things, but not spiders. I’m still on the verge of a panic attack ok if they’re fake, but they still freak me out. Yuck, yuck, yuck.
Are you decorating for Halloween? Do you have an irrational fear of spiders too?

Beautiful vignette! I love the chalkboard bottle. But I don’t know how you can walk past that vignette every day and not have already emptied the candy jar. 🙂

Thanks Kelly! Oh, it’ll be gone by the end of the week. 😉

Hey Erin,
Love all of your creative items put together to make a fab vignette. It looks great! Spiders, snakes, roaches… they all make me squirm, but little itty bitty mice make me squeal – LOUDLY!

Hi Erin, love your Halloween vignette! So many creative touches! Spiders don’t bother me unless they’re real and are loose in my house. We get a lot of biters around here. We have a pet tarantula though — he’s sweet and harmless and totally except from our loathing of spiders on the loose.
