Thank you ASUS for sponsoring this post.
Since we’ve been in quarantine, I’ve slowly been making over my “mom cave,” aka living room/office. Despite the plethora of desks in this house, I always find myself working on my laptop in bed, so I decided it was time to refresh my home office and create a nice spot to hide away from the kids and get some work done. This room served as my office when we first moved into this house several years ago, but over the years it became a “catch-all” for junk and I stopped using it. I’m still in the process of making it over, but here’s my desk setup for now.
Since I was refreshing my office area, I thought it would be the perfect time to address our spotty and slow WiFi issues. I was given the opportunity to try out an ASUS ZenWiFi CT8 Router, and this router is known for being super quick and easy to set up and also for providing perfect WiFi coverage in every corner of your home. When I heard that, I was really excited to give it a try.
We have had serious issues with our WiFi cutting out and being slow over the years, and needless to say with my job I have to have reliable WiFi. We’ve tried many different things to fix the issue, including changing Internet providers (we currently have AT&T fiber), and we even got a couple of extenders to expand WiFi coverage throughout our home, but they’ve never worked well. I was definitely eager to try the ASUS ZenWiFi router to see if it would remedy our issue.
The first thing I noticed when I unboxed the router was the sleek design. I love that it isn’t bulky or ugly and can blend in with my decor without being an eyesore. It comes with two units, and either can be used as the main router with the other one serving as an extender node.
This router is super quick and easy to set up. I did have to jump through a couple of extra hoops only because with our fiber internet, we have a modem/router combo instead of a separate router. I just had to configure a passthrough so that our existing router would be bypassed and the new one would be the default. It only took me a few extra minutes to do this. If you have a separate router, which most people do, then setup is a total breeze. You just download the ASUS router app and it walks you through the setup, and within a couple of minutes, you’re good to go. I also love that it provides lifetime WiFi Internet security for your home. It identifies and blocks malicious websites, preventing your device from becoming infected. If you have an already-infected device, it prevents any personal data on the device from becoming compromised.
Another awesome feature is the advanced parental controls. I can control Internet access on each of my children’s devices, scheduling their online access, and controlling what type of content they have access to. I can also cut off their Internet access altogether if I need to. I admittedly have not been as diligent as I should be with monitoring their Internet use, so I love that this makes it easier. I’m able to monitor their activity including their time spent online and what type of content they are viewing, and I can schedule blocks of time when they are permitted to be online, as well as utilize the kid-safe preset which automatically filters inappropriate content on all of their devices.
Not only do I no longer have to worry about my WiFi cutting out or being slow, I also don’t have to worry as much about my children’s Internet use. The ASUS ZenWiFi router really does provide worry-free WiFi, from better security to reliable coverage throughout our home.
I might actually spend less time in my bed with my laptop and more time at my desk now that I’ve refreshed this area. Stay tuned to see the rest of the room when I finish making it over!
