Join Hometalk and Michaels (and me!) for a Pinterest Party!
Hi friends! Guess what? Hometalk and Michaels are having a Pinterest party, and you’re invited! I’m so excited to announce that I will be a featured Hometalk blogger at this event at my local Michaels store. Head over to your nearest Michaels store this Sunday, February 16, between 1-4pm, and enjoy a fun afternoon of crafting. Check out the Pinterest inspired displays at Michaels, purchase your supplies, and meet in the store’s classroom to create your own pin-worthy project! This would be the perfect opportunity to grab a friend and have a girl’s day out. Atlanta friends, join me at the North Point Michaels store in Alpharetta! Click here for a complete listing of all of the blogger-hosted Pinterest parties at Michaels stores nationwide and in Canada. Michaels will be providing the first 24 attendees with some adorable FREE chalkboard cards.
Follow Michaels on Hometalk and you could win a $100 Michaels gift card! Five winners will be announced on Hometalk’s Facebook page on Feb 17, after the party. If you’re not familiar with Hometalk, it’s a home and garden social network where you can find all sorts of project inspiration and connect with other home decorating and DIY enthusiasts. Come find me there too!
“Family” Burlap Canvas Art
In preparation for the upcoming Pinterest party, I created my own Pinterest-inspired “Family” burlap canvas art.
Here are the supplies you’ll need for this project:
- Stretched Burlap Canvas
- Foam pouncer
- Paper plate
- Acrylic craft paint in color of your choice (I used Martha Stewart multi-surface paint in Pure Platinum)
- Alphabet stickers
- Americana Mixed Media “Branching Out” Stencil
First, position your stencil on top of your canvas.
Using a paper plate as your palette, dip your foam pouncer into your paint and apply it to your canvas using vertical “dabbing” motions.
Don’t get too much paint on your pouncer or it will bleed under your stencil. Apply the paint lightly, holding your stencil in position with your other hand.
After you’ve applied the paint, remove the stencil and allow your canvas to dry.
I used my stickers to spell out “Spain Family,” but of course you could customize yours with any message you choose. Use the threads of the burlap as a guide to keep your letters straight. I just made sure my stickers were lined up against the same burlap thread, and tried to space them as equally as possible.
That’s all! Easy peasy.
I hope you’ll all head to the Pinterest party, and please let me know if you’ll be coming to the Alpharetta store so I can look for you! Be sure to follow along on social media with hashtag #MPinterestParty

Erin, I typically shy away from burlap, but I think this tree silhouette on a burlap canvas is super cute! You’ll do great as a blogger/host this weekend! xo
