A few weeks ago, we spent several days traveling, first to Asheville, NC, and then to Charlotte to visit family and to celebrate the 4th of July. We had a great time, and it was a much needed getaway. If you’ve never been to Asheville, GO! It’s a beautiful city, and it’s especially fun for anyone who loves arts and crafts, as Asheville is well-known for that sort of thing. The River Arts District is especially awesome, with its industrial feel and access to lots of local artists and artisans. My husband and I usually go every year for our anniversary, but this time we took the kiddos with us for the first time. We only stayed for one night, so we mainly focused on wandering around downtown and eating good food. We didn’t visit the Biltmore House this time, but we’ve been before and I highly recommend it! It’s amazing.
I did discover a new awesome place to treasure hunt, thanks to Daune from Cottage in the Oaks who told me about the Antique Tobacco Barn. It was huge and there were treasures galore! It’s basically a huge warehouse full of antiques and vintage goodies. The prices were reasonable too. I saw lots of stuff I would’ve loved to take home, but luckily for our bank account, the car was too full to fit anything.
Here are a few snapshots from our trip. Can’t wait to go back again next year!

This was one of my favorite pieces that I spotted inside. And perfect timing! It was the 4th of July, after all. |

Here’s a little snippet of the inside. Imagine this on steroids times a billion. I couldn’t capture the enormity of the place through pictures so I stopped trying. |

We ate brunch here, at the Early Girl Eatery. It’s one of our faves. |

I’m actually going to Asheville this weekend! I’ve heard about this antique barn so I’m totally making a stop to check it out!!
I actually was there over 4th of July and walked around downtown for the first time. Such a cute eclectic city!
It sounds like such a fun trip, Erin! I think North Carolina is so beautiful. I’ve never been to the Biltmore but would love to see it at Christmas time.
(Darling black and white photo of your boy.)
Thank you! The Biltmore is amazing and definitely worth a trip sometime. I’ve never been at Christmas but I’ve heard it’s beautiful.
Since I am new to NC, I just love learning about new places and this is just my speed!
Need to plan a weekend and head out this way. Thanks for sharing
