I am so excited to be teaming up with several other bloggers to share a spring home tour with you today! Mostly because it gave me a good excuse to clean the house. Haha! But really, I’ve been working a lot behind the scenes on some room makeovers and although they aren’t all 100% “done,” I’m happy to show you the progress today. Plus it’s always fun to buy fresh flowers and style things up and take photos. (I’ll be sharing more photos and info on each space over the next few weeks.) Be sure to check out the whole spring home tour lineup at the end of this post, plus a chance to win one of three $100 Kirkland’s gift cards!
We’ll start in the entryway, which hasn’t changed much since the last time you saw it (here), but I did add some pretty geodes to the wooden thrift store bowl. I used liquid gold leaf on the backs to make them shiny, because a little bit of gold just makes anything and everything better.
The dining room has been getting a makeover, and it’s so close to being ready to show you. We just need to install the light fixture and haven’t had a chance to do that yet, so for now I will just share a couple of sneak peeks, including one with our new bronze metal round mirror from Kirkland’s. Check back very soon for the full room reveal!
I’ve also been slowly working on turning our empty front living room into my workspace, so now thanks to the addition of an Ikea desk and some other pretties, it is my office and I actually spend time in there! Before, it was totally neglected and we never even used the room.
We have plans for a larger sofa soon, but for now this little Target futon serves as a space holder and works for the time being.
I made some pretty pillow covers with fabric courtesy of Online Fabric Store. It’s the Waverly Santa Maria Desert Flower fabric. The middle pillow came from Home Goods.
I’ll always have a very special place in my heart for the card catalog cabinet I refinished. You can read all about how my grandparents rescued it for me (for free!) here. I keep all of my craft supplies in the drawers. The mirror on the wall above it was also provided by Kirkland’s. (It’s the Poconos Wooden Wall Mirror.)
Now for the kitchen. I forgot I never got around to showing you the antique table Chris and I refinished while I was pregnant with Jonah!
I’ll be sharing a full tutorial on the Minwax blog at some point soon, and I’ll let you know when that is posted. For now, here are the basics: We used Minwax Dark Walnut Stain on the top and sealed it with Satin Wipe-On Poly, and Sherwin Williams White Dove on the base sealed with Minwax Finishing Paste in Natural. The metal chairs came from Target.
Our family room has just had a few changes since you saw it last, and I’ll be posting more photos and details on this room soon. You may remember that I whitewashed the fireplace shortly after moving in — if you want to see what the room looked like when we first moved in last year, check out the unattractive photos in that post.

Love it!!! where did you get the great rug in the room with the target futon!??! Do I call that room the office or the living room now? 🙂
Erin @ DIY on the Cheap says
Thanks so much Jen! The rug came from Rugs USA. I call the room the living room/office – maybe I’ll just simplify and call it the “Loffice.” Haha!

I love your style, and I wanted to know where you purchased the basket with the black design running thru it? It has your fig plant in it. Thanks!
Erin Spain says
Thanks so much, Elaine! I got that basket at Target a few years ago. Not sure if they still have it available or not.
