You might remember a couple months ago I introduced you to a company called StreamLabs. I wanted to share a follow-up post now that we’ve had it installed for a couple of months, and even though I recently moved out, Chris is still using it at his house. First, just a quick recap: StreamLabs is a manufacturer of smart home products that help protect homes from water damage. A StreamLabs Pro installs a Control device on your main water line, and then you’re able to control everything from an app on your phone. You get real time customized alerts, you can automatically shut off your water supply from the app (even remotely), and you can also set it to “away” mode if you’re traveling so it will shut off your water supply if it detects any use at all.
Now that we’ve been using it for a while, I wanted to point out a few features that I really like and find interesting and/or useful. Oh, and we actually did have a leak! We had to have a plumber come repair a pipe in the living room and the leak could’ve gotten a lot worse if we hadn’t detected it as soon as we did thanks to the StreamLabs device. We’ve had problems in the past but this time we were able to pinpoint what was going on and get it fixed for good.
I really like the “comparative usage” feature, as it compares how much water you used at certain times of the week or month or even year. So I can see whether we used more or less water this month than last month, etc. I found it really interesting to look at the stats.
I like the fact that the app tells you how many gallons of water you’ve used so far each day, plus the water temperature. Basically anything and everything you could imagine ever wanting to know about your family’s water usage can be found right there on the app.
By the way, you definitely want to have a StreamLabs Pro install it. You’ll get the best service and increased warranty coverage, plus you’ll have a contractor to call when the unit detects an issue in your plumbing. I live in a rental home now but I will absolutely be getting one of these devices installed again in the next home I buy. It’s a lifesaver!
I’ve had a couple friends contact me since my first StreamLabs post asking me to remind them of the name of the company I wrote about because they had recently had burst pipe/flooding situations and wanted to make sure that never happens again. So before that happens to you, contact StreamLabs!
For more information, be sure to check out StreamLabs online and connect with them on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.
