One item that I love working with for craft projects is twine. It is so simple and inexpensive, but can really make a big impact. Did you know that there are several different types of twine? You can find it made from either natural fibers or synthetics, and you can even buy it in fun colors.
Here are 5 fun ways to use Twine in craft projects:
Make a banner
Use twine as the “string” and attach letters or pictures to make a banner. This is perfect for special occasions like holidays, birthday parties, baby showers, etc.

Embellish a Vase
Wrap twine around a vase or a mason jar and it becomes a pretty decorative addition to a room. Use jute twine to add a rustic touch, or colored baker’s twine for a more contemporary or festive look.
A few dabs of hot glue and some jute twine changes the look of this cheap flower store vase. |
Create Monogram Art
Purchase an inexpensive wooden or cardboard letter at a craft store and wrap with twine, hot gluing to secure it in place. It’s that simple! You can also add embellishments like paper or fabric flowers.
Just periodically dab glue as you wrap. I used Jute twine wrapped around a cardboard letter. |
Use as Ribbon on a Gift
Change up the traditional use of ribbon on a gift wrapped package by using twine instead. Choose a bright color to coordinate for any occasion. For a more masculine look, use jute.

Display Photos or Artwork
Tie rows of twine to an old empty frame, and clip on photos with clothes pins or paperclips to create an instant photo or art gallery. This is a perfect way to display your children’s artwork.

Baker’s twine is very versatile and there are so many uses for it. It’s perfect for embellishing party favors, gifts or even tying around desserts like cupcakes. It’s also great for weddings or holidays.
