Guest Post: Glitter Ombre Picture Frame from White House Black Shutters

In case you missed it yesterday, I am taking some time off to visit with family this week, but I have a lineup of awesomely talented, creative bloggers guest posting for me. My name is Ann Marie and my site is white house black shutters. I blog about my daily life and adventures as a mom of three little ones (3 and under!) in a 75 year old home. I like garage sales, spray paint, bonfires, margaritas, and Queen. And lots of DIY. 🙂

 

I’m pretty sure we’re all in love with ombre, but are you a fan of glitter? Lately, I have been. But you can’t listen to Keshia and wear glitter nail polish too much, or people will think you’re 12.

I needed to inject a hint of glitter into my décor and combine it with some ombre!

It’s very simple!

Take a blank, wooden frame. Pick out 3-4 paint colors that are similar in color, but with darkening shades. Paint the top strip, and while wet, use the same paint brush in a shade a bit darker. Repeat with 1-2 more colors. Before it dries, sprinkle some clear glitter beads. The beads will soak up the color, and become ombre themselves! After it’s all dry, seal it all with a clear gloss sealant.

The ombre lends a nice beachy look, and the hint of glitter adds just a bit of sparkle. What do you think?
