In case you missed it yesterday, I am taking some time off to visit with family this week, but I have a lineup of awesomely talented, creative bloggers guest posting for me. Today I’d like to introduce you to Ann Marie of White House Black Shutters. Be sure to check out her blog for lots of great DIY ideas! She is sharing a fun craft project with us today. I’ll let her tell you all about it!
Thanks so much for having me, Erin!
My name is Ann Marie and my site is white house black shutters. I blog about my daily life and adventures as a mom of three little ones (3 and under!) in a 75 year old home. I like garage sales, spray paint, bonfires, margaritas, and Queen. And lots of DIY. 🙂
I’m pretty sure we’re all in love with ombre, but are you a fan of glitter? Lately, I have been. But you can’t listen to Keshia and wear glitter nail polish too much, or people will think you’re 12.
I needed to inject a hint of glitter into my décor and combine it with some ombre!
It’s very simple!
Take a blank, wooden frame. Pick out 3-4 paint colors that are similar in color, but with darkening shades. Paint the top strip, and while wet, use the same paint brush in a shade a bit darker. Repeat with 1-2 more colors. Before it dries, sprinkle some clear glitter beads. The beads will soak up the color, and become ombre themselves! After it’s all dry, seal it all with a clear gloss sealant.
The ombre lends a nice beachy look, and the hint of glitter adds just a bit of sparkle. What do you think?
