I know I haven’t posted much lately, but my oldest kiddo is on spring break and we are having fun visiting with family and taking a break from our normal routine. I thought I would pop in with an update today though. I have become pretty active on Instagram lately, and I know not everyone has an Instagram account so I thought it might be fun to periodically post a recap here of what I’ve been posting over there.
These aren’t all my posts, but just a random selection of some of the stuff that I’ve posted lately.
Let’s start with life in general:
1. This is the mix and match hardware I chose for our bedroom dresser.
2. I found this mirror at HomeGoods and my Instagram friends helped me decide if I should buy it. (Uh – definitely!)
3. I shared a sneak peek of our bedroom dresser after I finished painting it.
4. My mom, sister and nephew came to visit and we took all the kiddos to the Georgia Aquarium. Fun!
5. The Easter bunny stopped at our house.
6. I spotted some fun, colorful pillows while shopping at Target. Of course I had to let you all know so you could go snatch some up for yourselves.
7. The hubby and I had a fun (kid-free!) vacation to Asheville, and ate at Mayfel’s, one of our favorite spots.
8. We also stopped in at the Antique Tobacco Barn (my fave!). More on this later.
9. I often share pics of the DIY on the Cheap mascot, Indy.
10. Who’s that on TV? Oh, me. Awkward…
11. Chris posed in front of this gigantic door in Asheville so that I could show the scale of how humongous it really was.
12. I attended the opening of a Goodwill store near my home. Little did I know what a mad house that would be!
13. Another Aquarium shot.
14. Fresh flowers make me happy!
15. The kiddos had an awesome spring break visit to Meme and Granddaddy’s house, and loved playing in the sandbox.
16. Here’s a look at our bedroom makeover “in-progress.”
As for other updates, we’ve been trying to make some healthy lifestyle changes. I was inspired by my friend Dusty from All Things G&D during her recent Whole Living 30 Day Challenge, and I’ve started making mostly Whole Living meals. We’re just trying to incorporate more nutritious options into our everyday lives and improve our overall health. Here are a few of the meals we’ve been having lately.
1. Stuffed acorn squash and quinoa.
2. Egg sandwich with cheddar cheese, avacado mixed with lime, salt, pepper and cumin, and kale. (My own concoction.)
3. Grilled salmon and bok choy with orange-avacado salsa.
4. Pork chops with sauteed chickpeas, escarole and apple.
5. Tilapia with barley, shiitake and edamame salad.
6. Whole-wheat penne with sausage, chard and artichoke hearts.
7. Spinach, tofu and brown rice bowl.
8. Zucchini ribbon lasagna.
9. Chicken with cherries, shallots and arugula.
