The Best Paintbrush for Corners, Trim, Nooks & Crannies

May 18, 2016 By Erin Spain 38 Comments

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Zibra. All opinions are my own.

The Zibra Triangle Brush is by far the best paintbrush for corners, trim, nooks and crannies. Find out all about it at ErinSpain.com!

I’ve shared the best paintbrushes for a smooth finish (here), but I also recently had the opportunity to try one of the detail brushes by Zibra. The Triangle Brush is by far the best paintbrush for corners, trim, nooks and crannies, and today I want to share my experience with it as I tried it out on a recent furniture project. As the name suggests, it’s shaped like a triangle which allows it to easily fit into corners. Whether you’re painting the corner of a wall or a piece of furniture, this brush makes it so easy! (P.S. Stay tuned for a giveaway at the end of this post!)

The shape enables it to get into all of the little crevices, and I tested it out when I painted our new nightstand for the master bedroom.

I’ll be sharing a full tutorial for this IKEA hack soon, but for now I want to focus on the paintbrush and how easy it made the job. It required no effort at all to get into the crevices of each drawer, and it made painting the edges of the entire piece so simple.

I’ve tried a few different Zibra brushes now, and I can definitely tell you I won’t be going back to generic, low-quality brushes. A quality paintbrush is a must if you want a professional-looking finish, plus it makes the job quicker and easier. This brush holds paint so much better than a generic brush, so I found myself dipping it into the paint far less frequently, which translates to time saved. I also didn’t have to press and cram my brush into the corners like I usually do. This brush just glides into the corners easily, simplifying my work and cutting down on my project time.

Using a specific type of brush designed especially for a particular application absolutely makes a huge difference in determining what type of finish is produced, as well as how quickly you’re able to finish the job. I didn’t fully understand this until I started using Zibra brushes and realized that it totally makes sense to use different styles of brushes depending on the job I’m working on. Using a “one size fits all” paintbrush for all applications just isn’t efficient, plus I’m all about working smarter, not harder. Why cram a straight-edged brush into a corner if there’s a brush designed to do the job effortlessly? I’ll be adding the Triangle Brush to my arsenal from now on.

Here’s the nightstand all done:

Zibra brushes are great for painting trim and six-panel doors. My favorites are the triangle and sash edger.

This triangle brush sounds perfect for all the little corners and such. I also need a new angled brush. Hubby borrowed mine and didn’t clean it. Ugh. It is wonderful to learn they are still coming up with great ideas for brushes. Thanks for sharing.

The triangle and the chiseled wedge, for sure! I’m eventually going to be repainting our entire house, so any tool, that might make that task esker is an automatic winner in my book!!

How do these brushes compare to Purdy brushes? I’ve been using my set of Purdy brushes for years, and they’re great, but I am interested in the triangle brush!

I like them better than Purdy, personally. Purdy used to be my go-to until I discovered these! They’re both high quality, but these seem to hold paint better.
