I finally got around to making over my room at the new house, and it’s so nice to no longer be faced with a chaotic mess every time I walk through the door! Now it’s a serene, peaceful space. Today I’m sharing my master bedroom makeover reveal with you and I couldn’t be more excited!

Here’s what the room looked like right before we moved in. It was a blank canvas.
And here’s what it’s looked like for the past 3 months. (No judging!)
The movers plopped everything down and that’s where everything stayed until now. I’ve been too busy to address it, so as you can see, I am very happy to finally have a peaceful space. I kept it extra authentic by not even making the bed for the photos. (Hey, keeping it real to the extreme here! Ha.)
I tried to use what I had for the most part since I’m on a tight budget, but I did add a few new things to the space. My bedroom also serves as my home office so I was able to include my DIY desk that I welded shortly before moving. You can check out the video of this room makeover here.
Here’s what the room looks like now!
I found this cute wooden bowl at a thrift store ages ago, and I love the little geodes. You can’t tell in the photo but I painted the backs of the geodes gold.
I brought my beloved card catalog with me and I will store office supplies and photography stuff in there. I also got a small Mid-Century style dresser. (I’ll add a complete source list at the end of this post.)
I also brought my chandelier from my old bedroom, and I love it so much. It was custom made by Lucent Lightshop.
The king art was made by a local artist named Blayne Macauley, and I received it as a wedding favor at my friend Brian Patrick Flynn’s wedding reception. It was such a special and thoughtful gift. Each guest got their own unique king painting. Check out Blayne on Instagram, she’s awesome.
I painted the watercolor feather art on top of the small dresser, next to the king art. Fun fact: it’s the same feather I used for my blog logo.
The larger feather art came from a small boutique in Charlotte, NC, and I had it framed by Framebridge, as well as the smaller photos of the boys. The filing cabinet was a Facebook Marketplace find and I spray painted it white with gold hardware.
I made the abstract art and I have a tutorial for that as well as how I built the canvas here.
I also re-covered the seats on the wishbone chairs with green fabric to coordinate with the space. They used to be an indigo shibori pattern which I loved, and I kept that underneath the green in case I ever want to go back to it. It just didn’t match the new room.
I can’t even begin to tell you how nice it feels to walk into a clean, peaceful space after living in pure chaos for 3 months. I’m so happy to have this room finished!
